“中国学院素描”(原“中央美院素描60年”精选作品)展在美国新泽西威廉帕格森大学美术馆11月24日开幕,中央美术学院代表团孙景波教授、周至禹教授,王玉平副教授一行三人,11月20至29日赴美参加开幕仪式及交流活动,展览展出了美院历年的素描作业91幅,博得了大学负责人和艺术系师生们的热烈好评,展览及交流活动被一些媒体加以报道。赴美期间,拜访威廉帕特森大学校长凯瑟琳·华俊博士。同威廉帕特森大学资深副校长兼教务长爱德华·威尔博士、威廉帕格森大学副教务长兼代艺术和大众传媒学院院长斯蒂夫·汉博士会见交谈,参观了大学艺术和大众传媒学院。并在大学美术馆举行了“素描在基础教学和当代艺术中的重要性”研讨会,孙景波教授发言介绍了中央美术学院的素描教学和理念,周至禹教授发言演示,介绍美院设计基础的素描教学,专程赶来与会的中央美院美术馆王春辰副教授发言介绍了素描展的相关情况。王玉平副教授简短阐释了自己的素描认识。三人代表美院向大学的中国艺术中心赠送了美院的各种画册,同时也赠送了自己的作品集。在美期间,三人还在版画系版画制作工作坊表演制作了独幅版画,并在艺术系素描教室现场演示素描写生,也深受学生们的欢迎和赞赏。当地的华人媒体特别重视此次交流活动,多方报道,认为是一次成功的东西方文化交流盛事。

CAFAM:素描基础教学改革已经快10年了,当时我在中国美术学院读大一,也刚好经历了这场改革;那么十年快过去了,如今的教学成果是否达到了学院预想要的效果呢?

孙景波:呵,这个问题有点偏离了我们这次赴美展览的内容了。不过,可以肯定的是,无论怎么改革,素描的教学的根本途径是不变的,是为了培养学生观察事物、描绘事物的能力;无论画什么,或者怎样地画,素描修养都是画家的根本。我体会,画家之为业,接近匠人的艺作,要能驰骋想象,穷极造化,终须落成在手下的功夫,成就于“熟能生巧”,“得心应手”,“触类生变”,“气韵生动”是一番业精于勤的终生修炼,古往今来,一切有成就的画家,都无不是在素描上下过苦功夫的人。素描写生是画家与自然建立联系、进行对话的一种最重要、最根本的途径。是画家感受生命、生活,产生创作愿望的源泉。素描是画家籍以沟通对物象感受时最便捷的表现手段。

CAFAM:可以以这次的参展作品为例谈谈吗?

孙:你看“开国大典全景”这张图,我这个搞这么大的构图,实际上就是酝酿时间很长,我勾这个图一天时间就完成,当然画的时候是画好几个月,这个另外一个事情。我的一个感觉这个心体会相由心生,到这个时候人安排,像这个四个皇后,四个太子,四截(音)四勾(音),安排在这个里面,这个里面已经成相在心了,陈丹青的创作与构图,这个是完成的图,通常创作一个必由之路。

CAFAM:那么这次素描展给美国当地带来了怎样的影响?特别是听说你们三位老师还给学生们做了现场示范。

周至禹:应该说让他们的反应很强烈,甚至是震惊,特别是威廉帕特森大学的学生很羡慕这种描绘能力,而且能看出他们期望自己也能拥有这样的能力。

孙景波:引起这样的一个反响不容易,尤其是感受到美术学院一些资深老教授一方面给中央美院至今保留素描造型能力感到敬佩,同时呢,也为他们教学当中感到这个板块逐渐衰弱乃至于学生动手对电脑和现代科技图像利用高度,叫做过渡依赖而造成了这种动手能力丧失,还有感到了有一些失落感了。

甚至有意愿提出今后和中央美院加强联系,甚至比如说希望中央美院能够过一个时段派一个教授去,就这样的课程当中加强分量使他们在素描教学板块当中,重新回到一个这门作为造型基础课看的更重要,在学生教学过程当中引起重视,这个我是觉得他们是有这样意图,这个意图也是我们交流当中可能能够留下最深印象的东西一个东西。如果后续真的能够把这个交流推进让他们从这个里面表达出来,因为他们主动拉动赞成,在整个活动当中,他们是几乎全程的,全天陪同我们三位来自中央美院交流学者,在衣食住行给予了无微不至的关怀,到最后说白了很难为情的。

CAFAM:就是说本次在美期间在日常生活中,两位有特别的感言?

孙:把我们接到家,把我们安排到家里头,哪怕暂短一段休息,第二天又不辞劳苦把我们送机场,一直到我们票签成,他才放心离开。这个丛志远在这个过程当中体现这样一种情谊一种抛钵(音)情谊,还是令人感动。

有时候我们感觉到我们在美这些华人学者,随着我们国家地位提升和强大,他们把促进中国在国家间交流当成很重要的事情而且很自觉去做,付出心血,这一点我们在这次简报也好,在我们总结当中也好给予高度的肯定。

周:他们包括这个展览各个方面工作很顺利的进行,是一个很重要的角色。

孙:我们后来联系几个学校,说白了缺少像他们这样的人,人家不接纳了。

孙:他是这个学校版画系主任。中国文化艺术中心主任的。这个中心是他拉来华人赞助成立的,每年一方面他领他的美国学生到中国做中国文化的考察,另外一个方面想办法引进中国的学者包括美院的这样的展览在美国举办交流,扩大中美文化的交流。

周:所以是一个很重要的角色。

孙:这个人要对他,王馆长在电话特别提出了表示对他的感谢。这个几个人在美国期间,深切感受到他作为一个华人同胞在整个交流过程当中给于这种关心。

最后以孙景波先生的一段对素描的阐述来结束这次访谈:“素描”一词出现在中国美术字典中——译转过来,不过是近百年的历史,随同这个名词翻译到中国来的,还有其一整套的基础美术教育体系,——接受这一富有科学成果的体系,百年来,我们把“素描”也当成了我们美术学校的基础教程,因此不仅促成了中国油画和写实雕塑的诞生,同时对中国传统的“国画”也造成了深刻的影响。

二十世纪,世界不再封闭,交流日渐频繁,东西方艺术在百年间的相互沟通中交相感染——转过去,我们也逐渐看到东方绘画从哲学理念到形式语言对西方的渗透。我乐于预言:下一个世纪,会是西方进一步开始认识中国艺术的世纪,认识到东方的“一画”之中所映射的:是一种对艺术神理的悟性光芒,会看到,那线条中,不仅有光、有色、有质量,有空间,更有力度,有情彩,有音律,有意趣……千年以前就有。——那是一种对艺术本体的魅力早熟的觉悟——这样的认识需要时间!

我们翻译并造出“素描”这个词,随后又把我们传统的“白描”,“线描”也纳入在这个大概念之中,这是一种取向宽大的学术怀抱,我们使“素描”这个词,在探讨造型艺术本源的时候,具有了一种超越时空的更见其本质的确指性和包容量。素描,不仅是初学者一种入门的训练阶段,不仅仅是画家们借以研究物象或为创作准备素材、设计构图的手段。素描同时也是一门重要的、有独立审美价值的艺术,是一门重要的绘画表现形式和门类。

素描的工具材料,不仅是硬笔的,固体色料的,单色的;素描也可以是各种软笔的,流体色料的,并且有一定色彩关系的。其前题是以研究或表现物象形态为目的的,凡以黑白关系、以点、线、面为最基本造型要素的,则无论在纸上、布面上,或者其他任何质的体面上的画和画法,都可以界定为“素描”。

一代又一代的美学前辈在对最为基础的“素描”课题上,不断探索、实践、研究、总结、提升;为着学院的坚实精神,也为着艺术最纯粹的本身。

If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
