Over-View - Navigating Art and Design Education

The deans are the navigators of art and design colleges and universities in a time of unprecedented changes of the world, of the epoch and of history. They uphold the belief of "renewing oneself daily and everyday" in education, and share the responsibility to explore all along the way to enlighten the individual wisdom, improve each other's mental energy and achieve a higher dimensional value of life.

More than 40 deans representing 105 Chinese and international art and design colleges and universities will have practical dialogue and cooperation on the basis of autonomy, self-reliance, consultation, openness and sharing, while forming an active and collaborative relationship in sustained optimization as a group among the chains of the nation, the government, collegiate teachers and students.

Based on the core value of "working with the future" and the educational stance of "shaping the future", "Future Unknown" will prompt a new wave of thinking in art and design education in terms of promoting the top-level design and macroscopic implementation of art and design education concepts, facilitating reform innovation and evaluation initiatives in art and design education, constructing diversified education models, converging emerging professional directions, orchestrating an integrated curriculum structure, and integrating multidimensional education networks, etc.

Over-View - Threads in Art and Design Education

At a time when mankind is responding to the global ecological crisis and adapting to global technological, economic, and social changes and challenges, "design" is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges, and must deal with changes in integrated knowledge that handles complex issues and systemic intersections in order to construct an integrated system of competencies that must be available for future development, with its foot rooted in the concept of the community of human destiny, and with a global perspective on the common development and long-term development of all mankind.

The more than 300 exciting art and design courses and projects include foundation courses, general knowledge courses, professional courses, innovative courses, open courses, and thematic projects, covering many topics such as cultural traditions, social reality, green economy, technological innovation, individual care, urban future, environmental ecology, boundary expansion, spatial exploration, relationship reshaping, and new materials, making it an empirical field where reflections, strategies, methods, and technologies collide in multiple layers.

By examining the interdisciplinary academic characteristics of the art and design curriculum, the exhibition explores the paths of continuous innovation and iteration of the discipline's professional development, presenting curricular threads interwoven with broad cross-curricular ability, multi-disciplinary collaboration, multi-disciplinary integration, and multi-regional cooperation, in an continued response to new propositions.
