艺术片与商业电影的对抗与融合——关于电影《画皮2》的思考与回顾

美术界的人士及艺术家进入影视行业在中国由来已久,已经不仅是几十年的传统了,其中也居多成功的范例。在2012年10月30日呈现的讲座是关于对中国当代电影业的思考与回顾,更多的是中央美术学院师出的老毕业生对在校学子的血脉沟通。

国内著名导演乌尔善和中国制片人麒麟网影视文化传媒有限公司的CEO庞洪以及国内著名文化企业北京麒麟网文化股份有限公司董事长,电影《画皮二》出品人郭力应我院电影与影像艺术系奥斯卡奖提名导演,古根汉姆奖学者奖的获得者王水泊教授邀来我院进行学术交流,以乌尔善导演最新作品《画皮二》为开始展开了探讨和深入的思考。让中国年轻的艺术学子和社会各界电影爱好者对商业电影和艺术电影更直接和全面的了解。
主持人任蕊博士对这次讲座致辞和引言。谈到邀请《画皮二》制作团队来交流的原因,王水泊教授提及乌尔善导演和出品人郭力都有过师出中央美院的教育经历而到后来转行电影行业。期间跨度和经历以及今天获得的成功希望能给学子对艺术电影和商业电影和我们对电影界的展望有更深入的了解。从他们成长经历出发,这种更直观和真实的交流方式让学子们更加能够学习到电影艺术之路的魅力和带来的直接经验。

导演乌尔善在中央美院油画系有过学习的经历,一直以来在当代艺术范围很专业做一些创作和工作,他的《画皮二》在电影行业票房更是大卖,他自己本人自嘲是美院教育的反面例子,88年上美院附中,期间就留校察看处分,上美院考三画室92届,二年级的时候就退学,后来通过大量的电影大师的录像带如塔可夫斯基伯格曼的影响开始对电影的兴趣考入北京电影学院。谈论到附中学习阶段对后来自己《刀见笑》,《画皮二》的影响。从之前广告导演到电影导演的转变过程,对类型电影《刀见笑》的尝试获得金马奖最佳新人导演奖到《画皮二》商业票房的成功进行了反思和回顾,对附中学习美术期间看到日本的概念艺术家天野喜孝画册和这次《画皮二》请到天野喜孝本人来做概念艺术的一个巧合和契机,这些他都离不开在美院学习的知识和经历。
不满足好莱坞电影在中国电影院的侵占是乌尔善做电影的一个重要动力,“2006年的时候,发生一个重大的转折,就是有一次我去中国电影院,我就想看一看中国电影,后来发现没有排片,所有的国内电影院排的都是美国电影,中国电影上午九点或者是下午两点这样等级,当时我觉得挺惭愧了,我觉得有一种羞耻感,我学习半天电影,我只能看盗版碟了,为什么中国电影院没有中国电影,我们必须改变这个现实,我发生了重要方向上的调整,我想做一种电影,这种电影是不是参加国外电影节,不是天桥包着盗版盘那种,一定是电影院里面大家买票可以看的电影......”。
对于做艺术电影做学术和教育多年的王水泊教授就任蕊博士提出的问题:“对于学子来说,艺术电影路在何方,而怎样面对商业电影的成功和艺术电影反差”问题也深入作出了回答。“和郭力探讨合作的时候谈到华纳兄弟的老板,他是几大巨头之一了,他对媒体讲,我资助了库布里克的十部电影,我想在座对电影有兴趣的同学都知道,这是我最崇拜的大师了,如果这一辈子做10部电影,每一部都能够留在电影史上,在艺术上面有所探索,都能够不断否定自己,不断尝试新的语言,而不是在重复一种成功的模式,这是太幸福的导演了,10部电影足够了,贝多芬9部交响乐足够了,流传千古。那么这个总裁就说了,华纳兄弟是最赚钱的公司,我可以不做库布里克的电影我照样赚钱,但是我做他的电影就说话还是有追求的。这是我为了感动郭力给我投资一个故事。”
“李安导演是一个艺术和商业结合非常好的导演。当然我觉得学校期间我希望你们把更多精力放在研究艺术电影最有实验性表达这个方面,探索影像可能性。另外一个,这个作家电影跟导演自身成长经历有关系,我的学生去改编一个画皮这样一个电影,我一定不能让他。你看乌尔善做了10年广告,做了10年前卫艺术,人家才做这样一个事情,我们不要着急了”

制片人庞洪也谈到自己从宁夏电影制片厂到后来在北京的发展路程的艰辛和奋斗,提及到机会的把握和对商业电影操作模式,作为一个制片人应该具有的素质。“整合和匹配更多一些优秀的、合适的准确的资源,我们在一起合作。所以在合作当中,我们这次分工也是非常清晰和明确,目标也是非常明确,哪些是导演的,那些是我做的,那些是出片人做的,我们有了这样的清晰目标,加上我们本身目标都是一致,大家合作也是愉快的,而且是各司其职,应该来说实现了我们最初一些票房的想法和目标。”后来郭力这么评价“那个时候我刚刚认识庞洪,我特别是发自内心感受到了什么叫做草原上生命力极强的棘草,各种各样的戈壁上的草,只有它有一点水,它就敢开花不考虑明天会不会有水”对于学子们来说,这种戈壁精神有着强烈的触动。还有对商业电影的模式和艺术电影的差别也做出了一些个人的观点。从国内电影出发,提到小众和广大院线电影的区别以及把观众和投资人的动机为一个重要出发点。
出品人郭力作为美院83届油画系一工作室的老学长风趣幽默的谈及到了自己作为出品人的投资眼光和《画皮二》期间怎样的合作方式。从油画传统的造型艺术转变游戏开发北京麒麟网文化股份有限公司董事长的过程。让学子们和在座的听众深受启发。
讲座最后总结了对中国电影未来的发展展望和现阶段问题的现状,对学子和听众提出的问题做出了一些回答,讲座结束后放映了2D版本电影《画皮2》。

If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
