“罗曼的一天”主题研讨会综述(二)

罗曼·西格纳作品的捐赠仪式拉开了“罗曼的一天”主题研讨会下午半场活动的序幕。首先开展的是罗曼·西格纳与王璜生馆长、中央美术学院实验艺术学院院长吕胜中的对话。罗曼·西格纳首先对我馆表示感谢,指出此次展览对他而言是一种荣誉。

对谈中,王璜生馆长指出,时间、气、火等自然力量构成了罗曼·西格纳作品的重要因素。在某种层面上,罗曼·西格纳的作品与中国古代文化有某种相通之处。罗曼·西格纳回应说,在采取动作或施加某种影响力的时候,他无法预知准确结果。创作过程由他设定,但完成作品的总是风、雨、雪等自然力量。这使他的作品和画室创作作品有很大区别。他由此谈及艺术创作历程:1972年开始将自然中的事物作为现成品进行创作或将作品直接置入自然之中,大约于1975年开始用影像记录作品。那是他人生中最幸福的一段时光,走路、骑车或搭车,背着背包,拿着摄像机到大自然中去。拍完之后,感觉很满足。从70年代到90年代初,他和伙伴一起创作体量更大、材料更丰富的作品,之后也和妻子合作。他的艺术创作不需他人影响或参与意见,完全自主完成。罗曼·西格纳还特意对他的艺术和大地艺术的区别加以澄清,指出大地艺术是在自然中采取某些改造行为,再用照片记录,而他的艺术是在自然中留下轨迹,恰当地说,是大自然成为了他的画室。

吕胜中回顾和罗曼·西格纳的交往经历,赞赏他不断创作,一直保持艺术的活力。罗曼·西格纳的作品表面上看显得轻松、随意,作品背后却非常严肃,在荒诞中提出道理,带有禅悟哲思,让我们反思人和自然、和社会的重要问题。此外,吕胜中指出罗曼·西格纳希望通过艺术的方式还原火药的最基本功能,构成精神层面的素材,具有强烈的社会和文化责任感。王璜生馆长进而指出,罗曼·西格纳在创作之前需要对过程、安全性等方面进行严谨思考。艺术家保持了作品结果的不可预知性和开放性,引发出未知与命运的哲学命题,涉及人类命运、个人命运、物体命运等微妙关联,带给观众深刻的思考和感受。

罗曼·西格纳谈到他的创作的确需要严谨设计,如控制所用火药的剂量。火药除了用于武器,也应用在宫廷典礼、娱乐活动中,因此他将焰火分为娱乐性和严肃性两类。罗曼·西格纳希望以一种和平的方式与火药等危险因素进行互动,展示危险与安全的共生关系。

下午研讨活动的第二位发言人菲利克斯·莱纳(Felix Lehner)是圣加伦艺术铸造机构Kunstgiesserei St.Gallen的发起人。该机构创建于1983年,今天已发展为拥有50多位员工,与国际知名艺术家开展合作的艺术制作机构。最近十年来,该机构创办了图书馆、建立基金会和材料文献库,开展驻留项目等,2012年还在上海设立了分支机构,与中国艺术家进行合作。菲利克斯·莱纳在发言中指出,罗曼·西格纳成为知名艺术家是近些年的事,之前并不为人们接受。他回顾与罗曼·西格纳的合作过程,如帮他制作特殊雨靴、创作交互作品,按照艺术家的设计制作出复杂的机械装置。此外,菲利克斯·莱纳进一步对该艺术机构的整体运作与发展情况进行介绍,展示与中国艺术家、画廊等的具体合作项目。   

随后,艺术史研究学者,
Parkett杂志的发起人和主编贾科琳·波尔卡德(Jacqueline Burckhardt)发表讲话。2006年以来,她的工作更多地涉及策划年轻艺术家项目。2008年至今,她一直担任保罗•克利中心夏日学院的负责人。贾科琳·波尔卡德首先对此次展览的展出方式做出了很高评价,之后具体介绍了与罗曼·西格纳合作的艺术项目。1990年,夏日学院与艺术家在意大利进行合作,一方面罗曼·西格纳的作品密切结合了当地的自然地貌,另一方面通过艺术的方式介入普通人的生活,涉及社会参与的层面。贾科琳·波尔卡德还从意大利人与瑞士人对罗曼·西格纳作品的不同态度说明欧洲国家文化间的差异。

贾科琳·波尔卡德在讲座中为大家带来了从未公开播放过的罗曼·西格纳作品的影像资料并且对其创作具体分析。其中一件是艺术家身穿防水的渔夫裤,有意用裤子接水。作品中包含防水与接水的悖论和危险因素。裤子大约装水70升,如果保持不了平衡,艺术家就会摔倒受伤。罗曼·西格纳曾在威尼斯双年展瑞士馆的展览画册中指出水是他创作的重要元素,每到一个新地方他都会寻找水源在哪里。此外,火、重力、炸药、空气等自然元素也很重要。贾科琳·波尔卡德指出,罗曼·西格纳的作品包含着一个隐喻,那就是面对自然之力,人必定失败,但要控制失败的姿态。

贾科琳·波尔卡德着重介绍了创办于1984年的Parkett杂志并谈及1995年在Parkett杂志框架下与罗曼·西格纳的另一次合作项目。当年的一期杂志着重介绍了艺术家马修·巴尼(Matthew Barney)、罗曼·西格纳等人的作品。杂志名称“parkett”指包裹的意思。包裹通常用来包较有价值的东西,之后会被拆除。Parkett杂志曾与安迪·沃霍尔合作,安迪·沃霍尔为他们创作骷髅版画,但恰逢沃霍尔突然离世,未及给作品签名。尤伦斯当代艺术中心曾于2012年为该杂志举办展览《书中自有黄金屋》。贾科琳·波尔卡德进而详细介绍了与罗曼·西格纳的合作,包括杂志设计、收藏展、衍生品等。

贾科琳·波尔卡德着重介绍与罗曼·西格纳有关的合作项目。
大卫·西格纳(David Signer)博士的讲座则从艺术家的童年环境、成长经历展开。大卫·西格纳从事人类学、心理学和语言学的研究。1994年以来担任苏黎世大学(the University of Zurich)讲师,著述颇丰。目前,西格纳博士还担任苏黎世NZZ杂志编辑。2013年,他出版了著作《罗曼•西格纳:对话与讨论》(Roman Signer–Talks and Conversations)。该书的中文版即将出版。

大卫·西格纳介绍了该书的大致内容,除童年环境和成长经历之外还谈及罗曼·西格纳的创作经历、求学经历、工作过程,谈到他在早期艺术创作中遇到的困难,如母亲的不理解、当地人的负面反应和过激言辞。艺术引起普通人如此大的激愤,反倒让罗曼·西格纳认定艺术是非常有意思的事。大卫·西格纳的介绍不乏具体事例,如罗曼·西格纳运用火药的灵感如何来源于舅舅在他小时候讲述的故事等。直到1997年以后,罗曼·西格纳的艺术才得到普遍认可。大卫·西格纳尤其欣赏他一系列关于沉入水里、涉及生死问题的作品。

从合作项目到成长经历,参与主题研讨会的嘉宾从不同侧面对罗曼·西格纳及其作品进行介绍。近年来试图打通商业传播与设计、写作评论界限的卢涛则从展览的邀请函入手,呈现罗曼·西格纳展览的时间轴与连续性。之后,来自蜜蜂出版(Bee Pub)的张业宏与策展人、制作人,现任OCAT北京馆(OCAT Institute)学术总监兼研究出版部主任董冰峰介绍了包括罗曼·西格纳相关书籍在内的蜜蜂文库“当代艺术书系”的出版计划、项目初衷与构想、面临的困境与挑战以及使命感与推动力等方面。

在“罗曼的一天”主题研讨会最后的问答环节,艺术家罗曼·西格纳和其他嘉宾回答了观众提出的创作语境、所受影响及展览邀请函的设计等问题。主持人李振华最后对所有支持此次展览项目的人表示感谢,感谢艺术家罗曼·西格纳,从他的身上获得了精神支持与鼓励。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
