201762日下午3时,由中央美术学院造型学院、北京民生现代美术馆、国家当代艺术档案库联合主办的从材料(和工序)到空间讲座在中央美术学院美术馆报告厅举行。联合国教科文组织国际陶艺学会现任主席、前瑞士沃韦应用艺术学院陶艺系主任雅克·考夫曼教授担主讲人,中央美术学院美术馆馆长张子康先生、中央美院造型学院雕塑系主任吕品昌教授担任主持。

讲座开始,张子康馆长详细介绍了考夫曼先生,并邀请考夫曼先生的好友,雕塑系主任吕品昌教授主持此次学术讲座。吕品昌教授认为,考夫曼先生是当代陶瓷艺术的的掌门人,并且对中国陶瓷文化非常了解,他的作品用装置来表达人和空间的关系,是现在陶瓷领域最前沿的艺术。

此后,考夫曼先生正式开始他的讲座。他首先讲述了其人生终极的艺术理想。在他看来,通过陶瓷艺术将世界上不同文化的人联合起来,促进人与人之间的了解和世界的和平,是他一生的追求。考夫曼先生表示,过去他曾是一名教授,而现在则是一个旅行者,一个做梦的人,他的一生一直通过行动践行着他的理想。

考夫曼教授提出了一个能量的概念。他认为,在人与人最初的交往中,人们最先交换的就是能量。然后这种能量进入我们的意识、灵魂,构成我们对对方的一种认识。他所定义的美,也是一种纯粹的能量,它源自艺术家的内心与灵魂,倾泻到艺术家的艺术作品之上。所以考夫曼教授在教学中更在意的是,一个学生,是否有能力将自己的情感通过作品表达出来。最重要的就是情感。教授认为,人与人之间存在一种诗化的能量,这促使了艺术家与收藏家、与观赏者之间的一种情感上的交流。

雅克·考夫曼教授的创作理念

接下来,考夫曼先生谈到他的创作理念。他将创作分成三部分:过程、材料、空间。他认为一旦改变其中任何一个因素,整个作品就会完全就不一样。他也强调了创作者在创作中的主体性。他认为,所谓创造性就是改变了创作三要素中的一个,使它富于变化。

在讲过理论之后,考夫曼先生谈起自己的作品。他现在的作品是基于他之前三段学习经历,这是其艺术经历的三次重生。首先是他从日内瓦的学院毕业,第二次是他1984年去非洲工作的两年半时间,他在那个时间段里发现陶瓷可以被应用到大的、类似于景观的体量的艺术作品,这对他而言是冲击性的。而第三次重生,是在90年代他来中国之后。

非洲期间的砖块

在非洲时,一群无秩序的陶瓷砖块引起了考夫曼先生的兴趣。回国之后,他做了一系列装置作品——他在砖厂借一些砖块,然后在展览结束之后,将砖块还给工厂。之所以这样做,是为了探究人与空间之间的关系。如作品《Separation》含义为分离,它取材于考夫曼先生儿子的出生,他认为妻子的分娩就是新生儿与母亲的第一次分离。

在考夫曼先生看来,一些简单的作品也是蕴藏着美的。他认为,艺术家不一定要用长久以来代表着美的形式去创作,艺术家可以运用一些看起来简单的,但是却又可以表达艺术家的个人感情的和美的体验的物质去创作。

回国创作的装置作品

1990年代来过中国之后,考夫曼先生看到了一些唐三彩。虽然彼时他不甚了解中国文化。但是秉持着对唐三彩釉的好奇和对中国陶瓷文化的热爱,他创作了作品《唐》。他观察到唐三彩的釉质在静置状态和竖直状态表现的纹理不同并进行尝试。

作品《唐》

考夫曼教授的代表作也与中国有着密切关系。他在参观位于西安的秦始皇陵的时候感到极为震撼。当他得知秦始皇陵是由6万工人花了40年的时间整个构建起来的,考夫曼先生决定通过自己的作品去传达自己所受到的震撼。他相信,艺术家追寻的真实不是现实的数据,而是一种真实的情感。他的创作,就是向这六万工人致敬。在参观中,兵马俑的头部引起了他的兴趣,于是他与合作的艺术家花了三到四周的时间,用尽量少的时间创作了尽量多的兵马俑的头。三四周后,当他的助手表示整天做的梦里都是兵马俑的脸之时,这时候他们共做了十五万六千个。之后在世界各地,考夫曼也做过很多次同样题材的展览,而秦始皇兵马俑的小脸也成了他的代表作。

关于兵马俑脸的装置作品

在中国,考夫曼先生设计了很多的作品。比如说《移动的山》,虽然当时他并不知道中国有愚公移山的成语,但创作后了解到中国的文化,惊叹中国是世界上唯一一个有移动山的传说的国家;还有在广东美院的作品《寻找光明》;2014年在上海新天地广场的作品《一片秋叶》,引用了法国哲人一品落叶,并不是一件废品,而是一种资源的诗句……

除此之外,考夫曼先生也在世界各地做了各种各样的展览:在韩国的作品《QI》,最初的理念来自于一块螺旋的瓜皮,结合当时特殊的能看到天空的空间创造出了一个螺旋状的作品。而考夫曼教授最新的研究成果是一种可以在上面种植物的陶瓷砖,它相比于其他同类型的砖,自身质量更高。经过测试,用这种陶瓷砖盖的楼层可达一百米以上,而且它需要的泥土和水相对较少,结合现在世界上的绿色的保护环境的理念,这种砖应该是相当适合现代的。它可以叠起来成为墙体,而且这种墙不会因为植物根系的生长和水的腐蚀而寿命较短。

作品《QI

讲座最后由吕品昌教授做总结,他表示,考夫曼教授从材料的角度出发去探讨哲学问题,使其作品具有一种禅宗的精神,强调对人生的感悟,强调作者与自然的交流。他说:考夫曼教授让陶瓷艺术走向了公共空间,为世界陶瓷艺术做了杰出贡献。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
