蔡元培曾言“大学者,研究高深学问者也”,并将“思想自由,兼容并包”作为大学教育的基本精神与办学理念。他在提倡学术自由、科学民主的同时,尤倡导审美教育,希望以美育代宗教,推行军国民教育、实利主义教育、公民道德教育、世界观教育等。可见,现代大学教育是建立在学术研究、精神独立、科学方法、素质教育、有教无类的基础和目标之上的。而在20世纪初叶,鲁迅、徐悲鸿、林风眠等都曾大力倡导中国的美术馆博物馆建设,其对美术馆意义的期待,除了对人类文明的保护和研究外,更强调之于国民素质教育及国力发展的关系。事实上,现代的大学教育和博物馆美术馆都同样拥有一个崇高的理念,即弘扬人文精神,加强人文学科的研究和传播,提升社会的人文理想和公民的文化素质。因此,可以说学问、思想、精神、教育、素质,成为了“大学”和“美术馆”的共同理念和责任。

在2001年《美术馆》刊物的创刊辞上我写道:“‘美术馆’的性质包含着对于文化的容量,对于历史的态度,以及对于开放社会性的立场和方式。美术馆以它丰富而见证性的收藏体现着文化的丰厚内涵及发展脉络,以对历史负责的态度来反映和建构多元的文化,以及对历史的尊重和保护。而更根本的是将这种体现、反映和建构与一个开放的社会空间联系起来,形成互动的关系,使静态的物成为动态的文化,成为当下社会文化的一个有机组成部分。”当前社会以教育为国家大计与未来重任,作为社会文化有机体的大学和美术馆博物馆将担负着对于历史、文化、精神和思想的守护、发展、提升的职责。

在全球多数重要的综合类大学中都有独立的美术史系,它们既研究各类独有的艺术与历史等的专门学问,同时也对大学各专业展开具体而丰富的艺术及其历史教育,加强了大学的通识教育。但迄今国内的综合类大学在美术与美术史的教育和功能上仍缺乏应有的认识高度,所谓一流大学的发展规划常常缺少了美术史研究与教育的部分,在这一点上,我们重提大学精神与美术(史)研究是发展中国高等教育不容忽视的举措。没有审美的教育,是不完善的教育;而美术史与美术欣赏的教育是真正具体的审美教育,同时又是大学的人文学术精神的体现。可以说,中国综合类高等院校要将创设美术史学系的决策放到教育战略的高度上,美术史学是整体的大学建制与学术研究布局的有机组成,新的时代已经向蓬勃发展的中国大学教育提出了这一历史要求。

美术馆是一种文明制度发展的产物,它是人类热爱、重视自身文化创造物的一种反映,所以美术馆旨在收藏、保护、研究、展示、传承、传播这些人类的文化创造物,使之成为人类共同分享的精神文明。现代形态的美术馆已经成为文化与文明的标志;正因为美术馆具有学术研究的功能和特点,它成为大学教育体制发展自身学术地位的一个重点。全世界范围内,重要的大学都有自己的美术馆、博物馆,收藏、积累许多重要的、不同方面的文化创造物,承担着学术研究、公共教育、文化保护的责任,与社会的公共美术馆、私立美术馆共同构成了一个全球美术馆世界。

我国目前除建设各类公共美术馆之外,美术学院、综合大学也开始建设、发展美术馆。我国的美术学院虽然很早就设有展示作品的陈列馆,但严格意义上的美术馆建制也是近些年的事情,而对于综合大学建设美术馆,更是一种新现象、新课题。鉴于此,有必要加强研究大学美术馆的发展问题,从多个角度来探索大学美术馆的功能、特征、收藏、陈列、学术、艺术公共教育、经费解决方案、出版、交流、与大学教育互动等等课题。

基于这样的出发点,我们编辑出版《大学与美术馆》这样一本专业学术杂志,既希望将国际成熟、有益的知识、经验介绍进来,也同时促进国内的建设发展和学术研究,使美术馆成为现代高等教育中的重要组成部分和互动部分,也成为现代文明社会中的重要有机体。

《大学与美术馆》的办刊宗旨,一方面希望以美术馆为基点,探讨研究美术馆的内在结构和动力因素,从文化原则、藏品特色、公共诉求、教育方式及管理运作模式等方面,探讨其与现代社会、现代教育体制、现代文明交流与传播等之间的关系;另一方面,我们希望从大学及现代文化教育的视点,以现代的文化理念、文化教育的视野,以及学术科学方式及新的知识结构,将美术馆置身于大的社会背景和文化场域之中,以探讨美术馆开阔的可能性。

从国际美术馆发展的格局与现状上看,我国的美术馆发展处在刚刚起步的阶段,甚至在相当层面上准备不足,如认识意识上、资金投入上、社会关注上。因此,建设大学美术馆又与大学的教育战略规划有关,也与整体的学术布局有关,更与复兴的人文精神有关。

中央美术学院已经建成了一座具有国际一流水准的美术馆,引起国内外的广泛关注。一座为中央美院带来建筑景观荣光的美术馆如何发展、如何成为重要的美术(史)研究重地、如何促进公共美术教育、如何与大学教育结合起来以及如何参与到当代美术的实践中来,成为了中央美院美术馆战略发展的目标和自身的职责。

为此,出版《大学与美术馆》刊物即是要致力于这样的文化使命与学术目标,让我们共同向这个方向努力,贡献各自的力量和智慧。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
