 走进设计与建筑学科毕业展 

中央美术学院2021年本科毕业展于5月25日-6月4日、6月10日-6月20日,分为两个阶段集中展出,不仅是一次开放的教学成果汇报,更富有生动的教育意义。继聚焦造型学科基础部“功夫”展后,知联会再次将目光投向跨度大、覆盖面广、关联度高的设计与建筑学科,邀请来自设计学院、建筑学院、城市设计学院的知联会理事们,以毕业作品展为切入,探讨蕴藏在背后的人才培养理念与实践。

设计学院、建筑学院、城市设计学院构成了中央美术学院设计与建筑教育教学主体,在创意绽放的毕业时节,我们与来自三个学院的知联会理事:设计学院副院长靳军、副教授陈慰平;建筑学院副院长周宇舫,教授、风景园林系主任丁圆;城市设计学院院长马浚诚、副教授黄春茂,在“知无不谈”的平台上,畅谈关于毕业创作、设计和建筑教育的话题,洞见创意、分享经验。

整体布展理念

黄鹂:“蓄势待发”是今年中央美术学院毕业季的主题,作为造势者们,各学院付出了诸多心血。首先,我们邀请靳军、马浚诚、周宇舫三位老师,作为班子成员,分别介绍设计学院、城市设计学院、建筑学院本科毕业展的整体布展理念。

靳军:今年设计学院毕业生作品能在富有特色的学校美术馆整体展出,为学生提供了非常好的展示机会。我们的作品分布在三个展厅,既有空旷高大的展区,也有相对较低的展区,形成了空间的变化。为此,我们塑造了三种不同的展示方式以满足学生的需要。首先是光线均匀、墙面平整的空间;其次是粉刷了黑色的空间,用于展示数字媒体等与科技相关的影像作品;最后在高大空间塑造了一些特殊的盒子,用于满足独立空间构造的展示。另外在衔接的公共空间,展示具有特殊体量的作品,形成一种对整体的串联和导引的面貌,产生交互共融的空间感受。

马浚诚:近年来,设计教育从传统的专业划分走向了回答社会历史命题、重组知识结构的特殊历史时期,城市设计学院一直将教学定位于学校主动服务社会的人才培养基地。在本届毕业展中,我们通过艺术城市、创意城市、文化城市三个版块来体现学院的历史使命和教学主张。艺术城市版块主要展示学生如何回应美化城乡的时代命题,把系统设计体现到为人民服务当中;创意城市版块展出的是工艺美术和产品设计相关的作品,体现了创新型社会面临的重要人才需求;文化城市版块展现的是我们为如何打造具有中国特色的文化产品做出的探索。

周宇舫:相对“展品即是作品”的专业来说,建筑专业的展品是未来要建造的房子,而不仅是一个小模型或图纸,所以我们历年的展览必须同时呈现图纸和模型。建筑学院之所以在全国建筑教育界以毕业展览闻名,正是因为同学们擅长做模型,而且将模型做成了可以展出的作品。这次毕业展,朱锫院长非常有创意地把美术馆一层门厅里的展板都去掉了,采取以模型为主的展示方式。在门厅右侧的高墙上,将同学自己挑选的表现图作为整体的拼贴作品进行展示,称之为“一种和建筑学非常贴切的、正在建造进行中的状态”。


个体与社会、跨界与融合、技术与人文

黄鹂:今年,三个学院首次全部进入学校美术馆展示毕业生作品,一定遇到了许多新的挑战,也获得了不同于往年的新的展示效果,在各位老师眼中,今年本科毕业展有哪些不一般的亮点?

丁圆:从本科毕业展的整体风貌,包括我自己辅导的学生来看,第一,以往创作的出发点往往基于自身的专业兴趣和爱好,但是今天我们更加关注人对环境的需求以及环境给我们带来什么样的利点。因此,在问题意识上,由个人喜好转向更多地关注社会需求,此外国家政策导向的重要变化,也对专业发展产生了积极推动作用。第二,在央美大美术的背景下,各个学科相互借鉴和融合发展,专业边界越来越模糊。伴随着问题的复杂性和多样化,寻求解决问题的思维方式和技术手段也越来越综合。借鉴其他学科的艺术创作思维和方式可以产生更丰富的创作灵感。第三,设计类毕业展第一次走进央美高水平的美术馆,对师生来说既是荣誉又是挑战。展览本身带来的刺激和兴奋,促使我们认真思考展览方式和观展效果。今年的毕业展是新冠疫情后的一次激情迸发,观众会看到不同以往的艺术设计面貌。

陈慰平:往年很多学生毕业设计都是围绕个人喜好,或是把对于美的某种追求作为首要目的。但是今年我辅导的同学,好像都有一种使命感,就是要把2020年至今所折射的时代记录下来,并且积极地寻找反映时代的表现手法,这对于设计来说很重要。他们的作品很大程度上表现了一种多面思维和全新的设计方式,似乎在设计、摄影、雕塑、媒体等领域有很强的混合感,反映出真实的时代面貌。设计越来越趋于综合学科,强调对社会的贡献,当然这种贡献对于本科生来讲还有点局限,但是他们用不同手法去表达思索,这对于未来的设计力量非常必要。

黄春茂:设计和艺术之间的界线其实是比较模糊的,中央美术学院的毕业展体现了很强的包容性。我们学校拥有非常辉煌的传统,从改革开放以后,不仅面临学科专业观念上的包容与共存,而且社会观念也在不断介入艺术。传统的、经典的和现代的、实验的,同时在这里非常自由地发展、自在地展示和实践,这种包容精神对于美院具有重要的学术意义,在全国美术教育从传统走向国际化的背景下非常值得提倡。

靳军:设计学院这几年一直在探索教学改革,开放的课程和导师选择,使学生与教师之间有了更宽广的交叉,我们的作品实际上是不同专业互动融合的创作。各种媒体形式的大量运用也是设计学院这次展览的一个重要特点,同学们越来越多地在创作中利用技术解决问题,表现创新思想,用作品反映人与媒体息息相关的社会状态。不仅探讨形式上的跨界,还有社会发展问题的呈现。

马浚诚:设计教育是与时代紧密结合的学科,城市设计学院一直强调学生要务实落地。随着线上购物、线下体验、5G时代、人工智能等关键词扑面而来,今年的毕业生更加关注体验空间设计这一主题,反映出他们对未来商业模式的感受与探索。我特别强调人才培养要因材施教,将学生们的兴趣点和社会需求紧密结合。我们与联想集团共建智能生态设计基地、与北京建筑研究院合作开展面向城市化进程、城乡改造的公共艺术建设,就是要向学生传递把握时代发展脉搏的理念。

周宇舫:建筑学院的专业方向在全国同类专业中颇具特色,具有一定引领性。如何认识这个实践性学科与艺术、设计的衔接,毕业展是一个很好的途径。培养具有艺术素养的建筑师这一宗旨充分体现了建筑学在中央美术学院这个大家庭中与其他学科的借鉴融合。我们今年的展览形式有很大突破,在自然建构、实验性等理念引领下,很多学生作品与工科院校作品逐渐拉开了距离,形成了自身特点。我们的建筑学要产生影响力,必须借助有特点的作品以及能够展示这些特色的机会,这是我到美院工作学习到的一个最有用的武器。

丁圆:我想补充几句,跟大家分享一下我看到的一些创作问题。首先,现在获取知识的手段非常多,但是往往不够系统和全面,会有一种碎片化的感觉。反映在作品呈现上就会有一种跳跃感,一知半解的跨界融合很难有真正意义的设计创新。其次,设计是用来解决问题的。如何发现问题,并通过创新设计方法解决问题和完美呈现出来,将会是学术探究的重要方面。我非常期待今后能够横向打通各专业间的壁垒,集中力量进行学术突破研究,起到专业行业的引领作用。


设计和建筑教育人才培养

理念与实践

黄鹂:毕业展呈现了我们教育所获得的成果,透过这场展览,能够看到各院系为了达成自身人才培养目标做出的努力。接下来,请各位老师围绕具有央美特色的设计和建筑教育人才培养愿景,谈一谈我们是如何进行实践和探索的。

马浚诚:城市设计学院特别重视人才培养的两个方面,一是培养人格健全、品德高尚的学生;二是坚持标准,提升学生的艺术涵养和专业水准。因此我们实行的是“通”与“专”相结合的两段制教学。前两年的基础学习为学生提供解决问题所需的各方面知识,后两年进入工作室进行专业训练。我特别看重和坚持工作室学习,每一位导师就是一个“灯塔”,通过近距离、长时间的交流,导师才能发现学生的优秀潜质进而做到因材施教,照亮他们前行之路,点亮他们生命中的火花。我们注重鼓励导师在一线发声,通过科研课题、社会平台进行项目落地和孵化,缝合学生的知识结构,深化专业兴趣,从而实现教育目标。

周宇舫:刚才马老师提到的教育模式,我们是心意相通的。建筑作为美院相对年轻的专业方向,倡导“自然建构”的人才培养模式,所谓“自然”,并不是天马行空、超越现实的想象,而是要把想象结合具体的地理、气候等因素,构建自然建筑的概念。像朱院长这样极大腕的建筑师带着毕业生在做极小的乡村课题,这样的培养就是师傅带徒弟,面对国际著名建筑师的提问与答辩,这种“到心”的训练对学生成长非常有帮助。除了国际化合作,建筑学院的一个重要特点和影响力来自于与综合大学相同专业的联合教学,今年三个工作室参加了“八校联合”毕业设计交流,通过相互学习、影响达到教育目的,塑造学生的专业精神是我们重要的培养目标。

靳军:我们一方面要继承美院优秀的教学传统和理念精神,另一方面要走到社会中去,感受真实世界。信息技术的发展使整个世界交融在一起,既扩大了我们的认知,也遇到了更多问题。所以我们希望在教学上有更多的跨院系专业的交流与合作,形成“大艺术”“大设计”的理念思考和创作实践。设计学院与建筑学院等院系合作开展了“智慧城市”“社会创新”“城市更新”等课题项目,不同院系和专业领域的艺术家、设计师、专家、学生在交流贯通中领会艺术精神、学习专业能力。既要通过开放获得更广泛、通识的教育,也要打实基础、站稳脚跟,再跨出交汇的步伐。很多开放的领域和专业最终都要去落地、去实践,做好从理念到实践的转化。

黄鹂:感谢靳老师分享的既敢于打破边界、拥抱问题的学术态度,又要脚踏实地去落地的精神。也感谢您的倡议,通过跨专业、跨院系的横向联合,形成中央美术学院“大艺术”“大设计”的合力,为国家和社会做出更大体量的贡献。

黄春茂:我谈两点个人体会,一是就学校角度而言,我们不仅要从技术层面,还要从人文层面,给予学生更多的影响和教育。在全球化带来的文化博弈中,我们的传统文化面临很强的冲击,大家受到西方符号和文化样式的感染特别多,导致文化的自我觉悟性减弱。二是现代化进程容易导致工业文明压过对人文的关注,使得我们的设计面临“见物不见人”的问题。追求科技审美的单一导向,会让学生在中国传统文化基因和现代全球化文化碰撞中,失去可见的样式参考。作为教师,我们要不断通过案例实践获取经验,从人文的角度推动教育、引导学生。

知联会理事、城市设计学院副教授 黄春茂

陈慰平:互联网的潮流不可避免,教师和学生获取知识的能力与方式都已经改变,要求也越来越高,我非常鼓励学生去学一些不会的东西。学生可以从很多渠道进行“及时获取”,但是资源如何共享甚至是再创造是下一个难题,在跨学科背景下,学生如何将自身专业分享给其他领域的同学,才是大设计的一种融合。刚才马老师提到的设计师的使命感和担当很重要,未来要提倡“中国设计”,怎样让学生做出为国家、民族设计的作品,是一件很伟大也很有难度的事情。

丁圆:刚才各位老师非常清晰地阐述了大设计背景下的教育理念和教育方法,我想从工作室教育角度谈一些感受。首先,品行和态度是决定设计师未来能不能成才的关键因素。央美历代前辈艺术家的创作热情和教育精神给我们提供了很好的榜样。十二工作室专业教育和创作中,我非常注重“把课题做在真实土地上”的学术探索精神,即重视实际问题和未来发展趋势。其次,强调思维逻辑性和实践方法。用创新方法来促使我们更好地应对复杂的社会问题,为公众创造更加理想和舒适的生活环境。最后,强调守正融创的态度。每个专业都有最核心的内容,所以 “守正”是尊重专业根基,“融创”是赋予专业未来。工作室教育的核心就是依托本专业核心价值,勇于探索和创新。

黄鹂:毕业季是中央美术学院给朝夕相处的毕业生离校前的一份珍贵礼物,请老师们为毕业生送上一句毕业寄语,寄托我们满满的祝福。

靳军:如果说2020届毕业生迎着疫情而来,那么,2021届毕业生就是带着疫苗出去,使你们敢于面对未来、面对外部世界。希望大家坚持独立思考,走好满意的未来之路。

丁圆:“守正融创、继往开来”,期待同学们勇于创造崭新的未来,央美将以你们的成就为荣!

黄鹂:谈话结束前,我想特别邀请本次活动的发起人中央美院知联会副理事长、设计学院肖勇教授。请您谈一谈,作为国际艺术设计院校联盟在亚洲区的唯一执委,从国际艺术院校毕业展的视角和经验,如何看待本次毕业展?

肖勇:近年来,中央美术学院的毕业展已经成为中国设计艺术教育界备受瞩目的风向标。毕业展不仅代表学生个人,也像一面镜子照射出学院的教育理念和体系,反映出学生创新的能力。在国际上,设计教育的体系大致分为实验性、实践性、学术性三个方向,我们的作品更多倾向于实验性和学术性,充满朝气、创新意识,并具有一定的前瞻性是我们学生设计的重要特点。

黄鹂:您认为今年毕业展上,三个学院相较往年有哪些不同的亮点,或者是您眼中的特点呢?

肖勇:今年设计与建筑学科在美术馆综合呈现是非常难得的,我认为最大的特点是创新,不同学院的专业方向各有特色,展览中充满对未来的想象空间,展示了设计与建筑教育的整体面貌。从观众的角度讲,有些作品可能难以判断隶属哪个学科专业,甚至作品的含义并不是特别显现,有些让观众与作品互动,每个人会有不同的理解。

我们毕业展非常丰富,有点像艺术设计的双年展,因为其中的变化和创新,反映了新生代在思考。许多设计重视对“人”性和生活的探索。作品能使观众沉浸式体验、阅读其中的丰富内涵,看到思想的过程和创作的积累。一些作品采用综合媒体和介质,有的则是重手工制作,都能体现出设计语言的多样性和风格的多元化。一件好的作品既要赏心又要悦目,注重叙事性和思想性。

黄鹂:请您再分享一下作为教师,在指导学生毕业创作、展览展示阶段的一些体会和经验。

肖勇:对于老师而言,注重过程指导和阶段性总结非常必要。也鼓励同学间的探讨和交流,低年级同学能够来观展为未来做一些准备。老师通过指导学生了解不同的想法和理念,促使教学相长。毕业设计是个进行时,平时要广学博览,提前准备,充分与老师、同学沟通,避免题目撞车。无论传统或新的展示方式都能体现作品的价值,要注重对生活和社 会的关注,主题可展现出学习的广度、高度和深度。

黄鹂:毕业生们即将离开母校了,您有什么祝福的话想要送给他们吗?您认为未来有哪些领域是留给毕业生的广阔可为的空间?

肖勇:毕业不是终点,学业结束也是事业开始的时候了。无论就业和创业,面对社会的职业生涯会有很多挑战。希望放平心态,不断提升自我,创作出对社会有价值的作品。每个阶段都是人生重要的体验,衷心祝福每一位毕业生前程似锦,幸福开心。

今后,希望你们关注当下和未来,开阔国际视野。设计总是求变,社会需要复合型又专业化的人才,设计的新领域比如服务设计、可持续设计以及与互联网相关的领域......都值得我们研究和探索。

If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
