春风和煦,阳光正好,一场富有春天气息的展览拉开帷幕。
2023年3月的第一天,“心影馨香——孙宗慰绘画主题展”在中央美术学院美术馆开幕。
中央美术学院老教授杨先让,中国美术馆副馆长安远远,中央戏剧学院党委副书记蒋朗朗,徐悲鸿纪念馆馆长徐庆平,中国嘉德副总裁、书画部总经理郭彤,吴作人国际美术基金会秘书长吴宁,势象空间创始人李大钧,孙宗慰先生的家属代表孙景明、孙景年、许红及亲朋好友,中央美术学院全体领导班子成员,各院系、部门负责人和师生代表一同出席了开幕式。

为纪念著名艺术家、美术教育家孙宗慰先生诞辰110周年,学校策划举办“心影馨香——孙宗慰绘画主题展”,并将其列入“百年辉煌•中央美术学院艺术名家”系列活动。展览由中央美术学院主办,中央美术学院党委宣传部、美术馆、油画系共同承办,这也是学院美术馆重新面向社会开放的首个展览。
中央美术学院院长、中国美术家协会主席范迪安致辞
中央美术学院院长、中国美术家协会主席范迪安在致辞中表示,走进孙宗慰先生的艺术人生,我们能体会到他既与所处的时代同频共振,又有自己的艺术独创。他谈到,孙宗慰先生是徐悲鸿先生所倡导的写实主义艺术的忠实践行者,他的油画和中国画作品,有着坚实的写实造型,同时寄予了他对生活的热爱,在现实主义的艺术道路上体现出诗情画意。孙宗慰先生在1940年代前往西部,一路西行至敦煌,他认真研究和吸收借鉴中国传统艺术的精华,在文化溯源和艺术寻根中坚定了中国文化自信。新中国成立后,孙宗慰先生走向港口、走向京郊大地、走遍祖国各地,感怀时代、感受生活之变,创作了大量表现社会主义生产建设热潮和人民生活新变化的作品。
范迪安指出,通过举办展览和学术研究,回顾梳理孙宗慰先生的艺术历程,更好地传承和弘扬老一辈艺术家的精神品质。今天的青年学子不仅要学习他的技法与造型,更重要的是要学习前辈们的精神。只有植根于中国大地,只有更深入地研究中国的绘画传统、艺术传统和文化传统,才能促进自己的艺术有转型、有提升、有真正的创造。
孙宗慰先生学生代表、中央美术学院老教授杨先让致辞
孙宗慰先生学生代表、中央美术学院老教授杨先让深情讲述了1940年代在国立北平艺专受教于孙宗慰先生的经历,“我是1948年考入国立北平艺专美术系的,我的太太张平良是1949年入校的,她那一班有靳尚谊、詹建俊等,我们先后都是在孙先生的门下开始学习绘画的”。他谈到,孙宗慰先生1946年就跟随徐悲鸿先生来到北平艺专。徐悲鸿院长在艺专的教学中特别重视学生的“第一口奶”,他安排了最好的老师教一年级,这其中就有孙宗慰先生。杨先让说,孙先生为人低调,不善言谈,但在教学中对学生要求十分严厉,他生动地讲述了至今记忆深刻的一次孙先生在课堂上对未完成作业的学生进行严肃批评的情节。
回忆学生时代老师的言传身教与深厚的师生情感,他感言,“以徐悲鸿为首的中央美术学院成立初期的教员体系是中国美术界的脊梁骨,我们是在他们潜移默化的影响和教育下成长起来的。他们就像是牧羊人,是我们的引路人,是给我们第一口奶的人,是我们的启蒙老师”。

孙宗慰先生家属代表、孙宗慰之子孙景年在致辞中向学校对此次展览的精心筹备和组织表示感谢,他谈到,“父亲孙宗慰一生致力于中国美术教育事业,希望通过此次展览,让更多的人了解孙宗慰先生的艺术成就和人生故事。”
此次展览筹备过程得到了孙宗慰先生家属的大力支持,孙宗慰之子孙景明、孙景年等家属向中央美术学院美术馆捐赠孙宗慰先生代表作品18幅,包括《北平艺专迎接和平解放》等涵盖各个历史时期风格面貌的重要作品。

“心影馨香——孙宗慰绘画主题展”是一个试图以画家的“绘画性”实践为主,兼顾情境带入和怀想引发的展览,展览共展出155件(套)作品,通过“天地霓裳——边地佛国的丽影姿色”“江水东流——长河行旅的移步换景”“馨香无尽——梦寐以求的平川牡丹”三个版块,梳理孙宗慰先生的艺术与人生,并探讨中国近现代美术的绘画性问题。
展览将展至3月26日。
前 言
值此春暖花开、学校迎来春季学期并全面恢复开展校园教学的日子里,我们高兴地举办“心影馨香——孙宗慰绘画主题展”,展示孙宗慰先生作为20世纪中国美术名家和美术教育名师的人生历程与艺术贡献,并纪念孙宗慰先生诞辰110周年。
孙宗慰先生是一位富有艺术理想、充满艺术情怀的美术家,在多种艺术主题和绘画的多种样式上勤奋探索,潜心研究,于年轻时代既展现出优秀的才华,更在不同历史阶段表现出鲜明的时代意识,有着丰厚的艺术积累。欣赏他精湛的创作成果,细品他艺术中蕴含的人文内涵和美学风采,将增进对20世纪中国美术发展之路的认识,进一步弘扬由艺术先辈开创和形成的优秀传统。
这次展览归集了不少孙宗慰先生的代表作与公众见面,在策展人曹庆晖教授的努力和孙先生亲属的协作下,形成了富有特色的展览结构和展陈情境,尤其鲜明地展现出孙宗慰先生艺术上的几个重要特征:
首先,孙宗慰先生是在徐悲鸿写实主义美术教育体系下成才的代表人物之一。他关切现实,重视艺术的社会文化价值,在抗日战争时期的求学期间即参加战地写生团,从事抗日救亡宣传活动。他的大批作品以悲天悯人的情怀反映朴素的生活现实,描绘普通人的生活风貌,以抒情的造型和笔调表现风景和静物,画出诗意的光采,无论油画还是中国画,都很早就展现出现实主义思想与抒情写意语言相结合的艺术路向。其次,孙宗慰先生是自觉传承民族文化艺术传统、在艺术上坚定文化自信的大家。他1940年代即走向西部,驻足敦煌,参与研究和保护敦煌莫高窟壁画,研摩古代壁画遗产,结合观览、临摹古代壁画,研究中国传统绘画的造型规律。在走向西部的旅程中,他深为民族地区的生活风情与自然风景所感动,情系于斯,欲罢不能,创作出一大批视像新颖、笔墨精妙的作品,为当时的画坛带去了感受西部民族文化与生活丰富性的清新之风,展现了将传统绘画精髓与现实体验相结合的艺术新路,形成了深远的影响。再次,孙宗慰先生是一位不求闻达、甘于寂寞、信守艺术纯粹精神的师长。他的作品所表现的内涵都发自内心的真诚感受,在尚美的追求中体现形式语言的美感,以“画家之眼”观察自然景象,更以“画家之心”歌咏自然生命,并且在教书育人的生涯中体现出这种大爱之心。
中央美术学院即将迎来建校105周年,学院历史上的艺术名家是穿越时光的重要财富,一如画家笔下的生动场景、时代生活和艺术形象,是前辈名家的真实心影,散发着历久弥新的馨香。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
