“青年实验项目空间”于2022年初启动第一期,秉承推动中央美术学院青年教师在策展与创作方面多维探索的共同理念,由美术馆与党委教师工作部(人事处)、教师发展中心联合,使美术馆二层半的独立空间,成为青年教师创作研展、展览策划的一块实验田。第一期“青年实验项目空间”选定5份展览方案落地实施。张晓雪与赵炎的第三回展览“结晶:不确定的生成——张晓雪个人作品展”于3月2日在中央美术学院美术馆2层C展厅开幕。


研讨会现场

开幕当日下午两点半,在中央美术学院美术馆会议室还举办了展览的学术研讨会。本次研讨会由展览策展人赵炎主持,邀请了邵亦杨、夏可君、于洋、李笑男、汤宇、段少锋六位学者,由展览作品与内容切入,讨论主题为“身体、知觉、技术与当代艺术创作”。


策展人赵炎主持研讨会

研讨会伊始,赵炎对本次展览以及研讨会的主题“身体、知觉、技术与当代艺术创作”进行了简要的介绍和阐释。他谈到,本次展览的基本意象为钻石,这是一种结晶的产物,展览的主题就是沿着这一意象展开的。钻石在当代文化中既是一种被极度商业化的符号,比如高昂的价值、被包装成爱情的象征,但结晶本身又是一种不确定的形成状态,因为我们很难确定最终的结晶究竟会是什么,就像艺术创作最终的结果一样。同时,钻石的形成也带有碎片化的特征,张晓雪创作的作品展现的正是这种碎片化的痕迹。由此会延伸出几个相关的议题:涉及到艺术创作过程中的身体知觉、图像处理、技术加工和转化等。

展览现场

展览涉及的第二个议题为身体知觉。观众在观展过程中能够直观地感受到强烈的女性化色彩,然而在展览主题的确定和探讨过程中,并没有过分强调女性特征或者性别议题,这是因为不想把展览局限于这一视角,而是尝试从一个更大的视角提出身体知觉的问题。

展览涉及的第三个议题为技术化。当代身体知觉的呈现与展示越来越需要借助于数据、编码等技术化手段。从这一点出发,在展厅中设计有一些文本提示,包括梅洛-庞蒂关于身体的话语、W.J.T.米歇尔关于图像的阐释、马歇尔·麦克卢汉关于技术和媒介的名言、以及唐娜·哈拉维关于赛博格问题的暗示,试图通过这样一个简单的文本链勾勒出当代身体知觉技术化的一个粗略线索,而这次的展览可以作为探讨这些问题的个案,并以此为出发点,去探索包括但不限于展览作品所涉及到的议题。


邵亦杨发言

中央美术学院教授、博士生导师、人文学院副院长邵亦杨从生物性与人、人与自然之间的二元对立以及女性艺术家的身体知觉出发,分析了艺术家张晓雪的作品,并由此探讨了在科技急速发展的时代下如何凸显人的独特性等议题。

她认为,在张晓雪的作品中首先能体会到一种明显的身体知觉,且这一知觉并非女性特有。作品《低烧》仿佛身体里的血液涌动,让人隐隐感觉到焦虑、痛楚和呼吸。作品下方装置的动态仿佛真实的呼吸般富有层次,让人联想到动物的鱼鳃与生物的众多器官。人类中心主义认为,人是世界的中心与主宰者,而《低烧》提醒着我们,身体感知是人与动物共有的、具有延展性的力量,不同性别在感知上的二元对立,乃至人与自然间的二元对立由此得以打破。

另外,展览中恰当地引用了从梅洛-庞蒂到W.J.T.米歇尔的理论,使人立刻联想到梅洛-庞蒂后对人的身体感知力量,以及米歇尔对图像力量的强调。科技高速发展的当代社会中,人的身体展现如何表现,人的身体与图像世界如何对抗?本次展览的作品既让人感受到高科技对世界的主导趋势,也让人意识到身体感知的重要性比以往任何时候都更加重要。如今,科技的力量被社会高度强调。小说《三体》中描绘了一个更先进的社会,而其中最缺少的就是情感与感知的力量,令我们得以反思高科技发展的未来世界会是怎样的。如今机器人的技术愈发精进,从人工智能到现在的Chat GPT,甚至出现2045年以后人类就会被机器人所替代的说法。当机器人也出现了意识、高知识含量乃至情感的表达流露,人类与机器人还有何区别?邵亦杨对此这样回应:我们与之唯一的不同,即身体感知的力量,而这种情感的力量在艺术创作中能够得到最大的发挥。


夏可君发言

中国人民大学文学院教授、博士生导师夏可君将讨论延伸至内在的身体知觉,联系当下的“低烧”状态,为理解艺术家作品提供了启示与象征。夏可君指出,展览的策展体现出了作品与空间的张力。以往我们观看绘画多感受到静止的知觉,而本次展出作品通过技术使静止的画面与装置运动起来,使观众体会到运动感、回旋感、或者是一种细微的震颤感。

夏可君也提到了展览的重要意象——钻石。钻石本是永恒的、静止的,是整个大地元素的凝结。然而在张晓雪的作品中,钻石的碎片感令人联想到纸片的脆弱感,这种碎片感最终形成结晶。作品从钻石的结晶出发,却把钻石分解,又把分解的钻石做成碎片感,同时把钻石的元素高密度整合,形成片状的结晶,并且一直保持颤动,让观众体会到了很强的节奏感。

针对作品《低烧》,夏可君认为低烧是形容人在处于一种极度疲惫或亚健康的状态时,精神和身体低频率的、无意识的状态。低烧模糊了我们的意识,人类通过发烧回归动物的神经纤维的颤动,以免疫系统的反应带动了内在感官的深度知觉,这是艺术家作品与身体生命状态的紧密关联。


于洋发言

中央美术学院教授、博士生导师、科研处处长于洋从作品所具有的图腾意象和纪念碑性展开分析,以“人性”“灵与肉”“共生”等概念视角出发对作品进行了深入而全新的解读。

他首先引用刚刚落幕的2022济南国际双年展的主题“共生”的概念对作品进行了阐释, “共生”最初作为一个生物学术语,是指两种生物体之间的相互融合与共存,也指一种生物体对于另一种生物体的吞噬行为。“结晶”主题展览中的几件作品,恰好呈现了这样一种人和造物、肉体和精神之间的矛盾与共存关系。

于洋认为,本次展览作为青年实验项目空间的精彩案例,展现了艺术家作为女性的心理感知与艺术创造的自我整合。然而令人印象深刻的是,作品《低烧》又使用了超越性别的,甚至是男性化的、纪念碑的形式呈现了肉身器官的知觉的“重量”,也试图在一种“轻盈”的材质媒介中强化这种表达的在地性与寓言性。

在观看作品时,人们可以感受到艺术家是在多种力量和趋向相互冲击的状态中向前探索与创作的。作品的体量和造型具有纪念碑般的冲击力,令观众产生瞻仰、拜谒之感,而装置中有机呼吸的动态,和如肺叶般收缩翕动的细节造型,又赋予作品以一种危机感和不稳定性。其使用材料无纺布则体现了中国式的现场感、仪式感和即时性。在这一角度上,作品《低烧》用巨大的图腾造型将区别于动物性的人性突出,当这种视觉叙事足够严肃和具有张力,便显现出了某种超现实主义的意味。


李笑男发言

中国人民大学艺术学院副教授、硕士生导师李笑男则提供了从性别与精神分析理论解读艺术家作品的视角,从哲学角度剖析了作品中毛发概念的边缘性与作品仪式感的矛盾。

她认为作品中的毛发是我们身体中不可缺少的、边缘性的附件。艺术家把似乎被排斥的东西放在了仪式感的重要位置上,这种矛盾引人深思。从哲学或文化学的视角来看,通过边缘附件(如皮毛与女性)可以窥视到本质性的问题。李笑男认为,这件作品实际体现了创作者对自我认同完整性的探索。同时,皮毛在身体中具有保护功能,这一创作元素也许体现了女性无意识的保护意识。

从展厅的观感出发,李笑男指出灯光体现的仪式感以及作品较强的吸光性,令观者感受到了一种安慰的、抚慰的补偿或言代偿感。另一方面,装置中的不停的动感体现着重复性的强迫性的接近,令人感受到很强的不安全感。作品的不稳定性与大尺寸呈现出的仪式感形成矛盾,背后体现着女性作品与男性纪念碑气质的矛盾,可以感受到艺术家在多重力量的冲击地带向前探索的创作心境。


汤宇发言

中央美术学院学术委员会副秘书长汤宇继续从身体与知觉议题出发,并将讨论的议题进一步转向不同媒介材料技术间的转化,这也是艺术家与策展人试图在本次展览试图呈现的重要议题之一。本次展览的作品媒介涉及版画、油画、装置等,因此,如何在当代艺术创作中寻求其中的多元性与统一性,从整体考虑观众的观感与呈现效果,构建独特的创作系统与工作方式,正是张晓雪在艺术创作中不断探索的话题。

汤宇分享了由展览展开的三点思考。第一是艺术家对身体边界的探寻、延展和突破。他提到,张晓雪的作品更像是艺术家身体的延展,在作品中,身体不只是躯壳,也是人与外界自然的媒介。《低烧》运用了纺织物这种软性材料作为作品的载体,而将一个机械装置内置其中,使其产生轻微的律动,作品张合之间让人感到一种毛孔微张的悸动,不断地向外界发散出生命体征,进而给观众一种身体的共情感知。并且这个作品可以根据不同的展示空间,演变出不同的形态,仿生物效果、舞台剧场感,就像是不断突破身体的轮廓,延展出更多的可能性。随后是艺术家个人艺术语言系统的构建。张晓雪面对不同材料的质感,与最终呈现的画面语言和身体语言高度一致。她特别善于捕捉与自身体验具有直接对应关系的事物,并将个人的生命体验渗透其中,形成物质性与精神性的直接对应。就像《身体的余晕》这件作品,将硬质材料的运动轨迹转化成为一种柔软的质感。就像是一缕缕身体的毛发,正在疯狂生长。第三是关于展览场域的情境建构。艺术家与策展人利用美术馆更大场域空间的借位和仿像投射,为《结晶》这件作品营造出更为宏大的气场,美术馆的中空大厅变成由作品相互投射形成的场域,成为了展览的叙事底色和空间语汇。

段少锋发言

青年评论家段少锋继续探讨了媒介材料技术间的转型,并从当代女性展览的现状出发,由此反观了女性艺术研究或者女性主义艺术史研究的普遍现象。

他认为,从本次展览主题“结/晶”可看出策展人与艺术家的用心,结晶拆分开恰恰是展览的两个单元,即外部的《结晶—不确定的生成》为主的“晶”的单元和封闭空间内《低烧No.9》为主体的“结”的单元,这两个场域的融合恰好便是“结晶”这一展览主题。

近年来从国际视野到中国艺术界出现了女性艺术热,从刚刚过去的威尼斯双年展到国内近期涌现的大量展览都是以女性为主体。女性主义议题成为了艺术界无法回避的话题,张晓雪的作品极具女性主义色彩,从颜色上来看张晓雪对于颜色的选择体现出其作品的复杂性和女性主义倾向,尤其是红色的使用体现出艺术家自身的关注议题的矛盾和统一。


展览展出的《低烧》系列作品小稿

从媒介和形式上来讲,段少锋认为张晓雪的作品与其版画的专业背景紧密相关,她作品中元素的排列与组合、复数性,以及技术与观念的融合体现出版画家的创作思维,同时这些作品在未来极具公共化的可能,也体现出传播性和大众参与性。以《低烧No.9》为例,在未来的公共空间的展览展示将会有很多可能性,也可以为作品引发的讨论提供更多空间。


艺术家张晓雪发言

在研讨会最后,张晓雪对各位学者的发言与探讨进行了回应。她认为,在艺术家的创作过程中,女性意识并不是主动彰显,而是自然流露的,艺术家本质上更关注的是人的存在状态,正如邵亦杨所提到的生物性与人、人与动物之间的二元对立的议题。她谈及自己在美院版画系读书时,曾喜欢用木刻刀把一块坚硬的木头一点点刻到圆润,在创作实践中,艺术家潜意识中有一种把世界变得柔软的内在力量,这种特有的力量的释放,是贯穿她所有媒介创作实践的脉络。

展览的题目“结晶-不确定的生成”是艺术家与策展人在工作室中通过反复的探讨最终敲定的。张晓雪认为,这一题目体现了持续的、未完成的状态。由于自身艺术创作的多元、自身主体性的不断变化,似乎没有一个风格能够确切地描述自己及自己的作品。在创作中,她也不会刻意探讨某一议题,而是通过探讨自身变化来反观外在环境的变化,这种未完成性与不确定性代表着持续更新、没有固定的结果与终点。

本次研讨会中的学者为作品和展览提供了多元视角的解读,拓展了艺术家和作品与社会的关系,也为艺术家回观自己的作品以及探索新的议题提供了启发。可以说,本次研讨会正实现了展览题目“不确定的生成”所指向的——作品的未完成性、持续性与不确定性。

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
