讲座综述 | “奇点之下:从Cypto到Ai的艺术叠加”

3月15日下午,“加密艺术:一种新的可能性”的第三场学术活动、讲座“奇点之下:从Cypto到Ai的艺术叠加”在中央美术学院美术馆报告厅举行。此次讲座由此次展览中方策展人、央美美术馆副馆长王春辰教授主持,主讲人是加密艺术研究者孙博涵。孙博涵是创业者,也是策展人、艺术家,同时也是BCA科技艺术的联合创始人和众甫联动投资合伙人。

孙博涵首先提出,希望在场听众以碳基体和硅基体两个视角来看待问题,以此作为这场讲座正式开始前的铺垫和思考。他认为,这两种基体生物物体的关系可能是在今后或者是从今年起往后颠覆世界认知体系的两个对立体。碳基体和硅基体的区别体现在以下几个方面:首先,二者获取能量的方式不同。我们作为人类或者说动物,获取能量的路径是吃碳水化合物,而硅基体从诞生成长之后,只需要获取一个东西,那就是电。电又会取决于太阳能等能够产生电的能源。第二个区别是作息。人类自古以来就有白天和黑夜的概念,以日出日落为标准,晚上需要休息。而碳基生物的白天实际是我们的夜晚,因为白天,包括LED光源、芯片、电脑、手机等在内的硅基体都没有一个突出的存在方式,但是一旦到晚上,整个城市的灯光亮起,每个灯光、灯泡都是芯片、硅基体。因此孙博涵认为,碳基体和硅基体有各自的对应的白天。第三点是增长指数。从2009年比特币诞生,到2022年ChatGPT正式发布,都体现出人类社会科技发展的速度呈现指数级增长,而这背后就与硅基体的快速度发展有关。第四,人类具有情感性,有欲望,人变优秀需要克制、自律,现在年轻人常说要变成“赚钱机器”,就是希望剥离情感性的东西,而更像一个硅基体。


嘉宾孙博涵发言

接下来,孙博涵解释了奇点的概念。奇点这个概念最初由数学家维尔纳·范布劳恩在20 世纪60年代提出。他认为,未来的某个时间点,人工智能会超越人类智慧,进入到一个无法预测的领域,称之为奇点。现在,奇点的概念被广泛应用在各个领域,尤其是科技领域。与奇点相对应的词叫“智能爆炸”。最早意识到人类技术发展速度加快的是波兰数学家斯塔尼斯拉夫·乌拉姆,于1958年和计算机科学家冯·诺伊曼的一次对话中。统计学家I.JGood于1965年提出技术奇异点的必要条件——“智能爆炸”概念:让我们将超级智能机器定义为一种能够远远超过任何人的所有智力活动的机器。如果说设计机器是这些智力活动的一种,那么超级智能机器肯定能够设计出更加优良的机器;毫无疑问,随后必将出现一场“智能爆炸”,人类的智能会被远远抛在后面。因此,第一台超级智能机器是人类需要完成的最后一项发明,前提是这台机器足够听话,会告诉我们如何控制它。……在二十世纪之内,超级智能机器将很有可能被制造出来,而它会是人类需要进行的最后一项发明。


这里还延伸到另一个概念,“新摩尔定律”。这一定律由“ChatGPT之父”、OpenAI首席执行官山姆·奥特曼(Sam Altman)提出,他认为,之前的摩尔定律称每18-22个月宇宙中的信息数量会翻倍,现在每18个宇宙中的智能数量会翻倍。我们的未来不再是经历计划,而是要经历爆炸。孙博涵认为,奇点的元年,就是说智能爆炸的元年,实际上可以理解为2022年。在奇点之下,每个人想的问题或许就是我们如何在智能爆炸中掌握控制权,而其中艺术是一个非常重要的手段。具有创造性思维的艺术家在现阶段首先具有不被AI替代的巨大优势。而数字艺术里也有一个奇点,即2021年3月份,这是加密艺术爆发的瞬间。2021年的2月,Beeple成功在佳士得以6900万美金拍卖了自己的数字作品,成为在世的艺术家中拍卖价格第三的作品。此后,所有文化艺术行业的各个领域逐渐与数字艺术建立了强相关的绑定。从人工智能的创作角度来讲,很多人也试过通过AI实现图像、视频、PPT的创作。

此次讲座的第二个关键词是“之下”。“之下”就是当下,因为我们存在是最有价值和意义的。过去的事情可以回看,未来的事情可以预测,但是把当下做好更重要。当下可以用一句话概括,“游戏规则已经确定性的改变了,这是一个算力的世界”。大家的日常生活已经被数据所监视、监控,背后则是量子计算机、量子纠缠等相关定律,或者通过微积分的道理、概念、原理去定义解释我们生活中的每一个细节。当下也发生了诸多大事,如2020年3月美股熔断流动性危机、2021年3月beeple的作品拍卖,2023年3月美国硅谷银行倒闭、ChatGPT4发布、ChatGPT之父提出新摩尔定律等等。而在中国,百度也发布了文心一言,我们应该从经济基础、政体、艺术行业等角度来看在将来的大环境语境下看到我们身处的位置。这里还应该看到另外一些方面的变化,如社交媒体的炫耀属性带来的焦虑等心理问题、气候问题、能源问题等。

接下来,孙博涵提到,中国人或者说亚洲人可以被看作“Web3里的犹太人”。现在,全球在Crypto领域里的掌权者和大公司的创始人都是中国人,中国人在WEB3里面的话语权有一定的影响力。但是在纯科技创新或者文化的发展运营、传承层面,我们可能与科技的结合还需要更多的包容性,还需要努力做一些更多的尝试。但是总体来说亚洲人在WEB3里算是一种现象级状态,因为每年全球很多大城市会举办很多Crypto会议,其中有约一半中国人,中国人在这个体系里面是有一定的声量和话语权的。但是我们也有自己的弱项和强项。再就是政体与科技的融合,这也是中国现在面临的比较特殊的情况。我们如何做一个中国版ChatGPT,还是说做一个中国的Crypto,我们如何在中国联盟链的体系下实现我们所想要倡导的区块链的世界,或者是有限区块链的世界?这里有一个问题,就是我们对真正的Crypto,也就是加密原生能有多少理解和体验。最终我们怎么把这种加密原生的东西拿出来,然后运用到中国允许的政治、体制允许下的Crypto生态里,仍然是一个问题。如何在现在的世界获取信息或者说科技话语权,是非常重要的。


回到当下的中央美术学院,可以看到央美在Web3、加密艺术领域的布局。央美培养了一批高认知群体,而在当下,知识即是资产。据不完全统及,目前已经在web3领域里有所探索的校友就包括陈抱阳、方力钧、费俊、黄宇兴、刘刚、刘佳颖、李洋、李木子、金小尧、邱志杰、谭平、田晓磊、隋建国、孙博涵、孙一钿、王春辰、王兴、邬建安、徐冰、杨嘎、杨尚杰、闫烨、张怀儒、张帆、张洹、张远等(按姓名首字母排序)。相信将来这个名单会越来越多,可能是几百、上千个,或者成为一个很普遍的现象。随着群体认知的集体进步,数字技术可以呈现出多种可能性。现在的设计学院、建筑学院以及实验艺术与科技艺术学院的课程中,学生思考的维度已经与过去大有不同,中央美术学院培养的是艺术家,而艺术家最核心的一点就是创造性思维。我们在进行艺术创作或设计时,最多的是源于大脑的冲动,然后产生一个结果,但今天AI的创造还是需要人类发出指令,进行描绘,而后才能产生作品。另外,过去往往只讲“Artist”理解为从事绘画的人,但今天看来,艺术家并不仅仅是绘画,音乐、表演等等都是“artist”,“artist”是灵感的提炼者和给予者。有意义的东西所有人都会做,而艺术家可以将无意义的事情变得有意义。


在这里,孙博涵分享了自己从央美附中、央美本科到央美研究生的经历,也提到了如何在导师刘刚的启发下从油画创作转向数字艺术领域,中间也有做投资、项目、收藏等不同方向的经历,也经历了人生的大起大落。对此他认为,首先应该有终身学习的心态,每天都会面对新概念、新软件、新现象,使他感到学习强度甚于高考前夕。再就是需要多游历、多尝试,保持健康、用大脑控制好躯体,也要文理兼修,时刻保持好奇心和创造力,丰富自己的经验和认识。而当下的我们能做的有以下几点:首先是有个人主权意识,保护好属于自己的数据和信息个人主权。这里孙博涵也推荐了《主权个人》(The Sovereign Individual)、《人类简史》、《未来简史》等书籍。第二是认知和学习,这在奇点之际一定是有效的。在土地资源、资本资源、智能资源的过渡过程中,我们应该做什么?这一点就是寻找认知的定位,对于“我”在这个世界上究竟处在什么位置有一个局部和整体关系的认知,也要直到我们正处于哪一个资源体系下,我们应该掌握什么、学习什么。再就是创业和创作、投资和收藏。作为艺术家,如何处理与藏家和机构的关系,作为创业者,如何处理用户和投资人的关系投资人的关系,也是非常重要的。而在这里也存在身份的融合,很多艺术家的作品与公司都是成为一体、相互交融的,例如刘嘉颖最初做加密艺术作品时也做过科研、项目和投资。在区块链中,每一个人都可以成为创造者、收藏者,也可以承担画廊的职能进行艺术品交易,或者承担类似美术馆的职能等等。这样的界限感在未来,尤其在数字主权的引导下,会越来越模糊。


再之后,孙博涵讲到了Crypto与Ai的关系。这是近年来比较火热的两大科技、两股趋势,它们有密切关系的,或者说它们是下一代的生产力和生产关系。生产力是AI,AI相当于意识,生产关系就是Crypto。Crypto是一个AI走向商业化的路径,这里面衍生出来的叫代币模型的合理的激励形式就是AI的数据算法的激励。在Crypto里有一个很重要的玩法就是激励,通过激励不断刺激和放大人们的欲望。可以说Crypto释放了人性中一些恶的东西和好的东西,但即使不在Crypto中,我们也会在现实生活中遇到和经历这些东西。现在有些人认为在AI出来后Crypto或加密艺术的声音微弱了下来,但实际上我们讨论Cryto讨论的更多是生产关系,加密艺术就是一个承载数字资产的媒介,是一个承载无形的意识或者服务的媒介。

再就是游戏世界观。电影《头号玩家》中有一个积分榜,拿到钥匙的人会出现在榜单里面。这也是未来十年内我们的世界可能会出现的一个结果。我们会被游戏化,游戏实际上就是在制造一些小的叙事和世界观。游戏里面包含了积分、游戏币、身份、意识形态价值观等种种。我们现在所处的现实社会也可以是一个游戏,游戏就是gamefi,将来大家可能会频繁game、gamefi、game finance等词语,包括在做作品、设计、创业时,都可以往游戏世界观的角度方向上考虑。孙博涵也提到了脑机接口的一些问题,脑机接口牵涉到一些生物神经学、生物科技学,明年年底马斯克也会发布一款新的相关产品。


最后是艺术与叠加。艺术与宗教、哲学一样,都是形而上的。艺术的东西是永存的,无法被替换掉,情感和欲望释放出来的东西是要被持续尊重的,这是我们身为人始终要相信和追求的。说到叠加,大家都知道图层的叠加,而AI和Crypto叠加以后,就会产生另外一种效果。这里面的叠加会有几个延伸,一个叫组合性创意,是从人类和AI的关系,到机器和AI的一种升级的组合性的关系,组合性创意就是我们把现有的熟悉的想法进行新颖的组合。就像在美国的很多艺术院校里面教的绘画就是从抽象表现主义开始,其绘画体系就是将画的东西剪成不规则的碎片以后再重新组合出来,这就是第二种,探索性创意,也就是在现有的概念空间中的形成新想法。再就是变革性创意,我们重新拉到新的抽象空间,去进行一种新的组合,这个维度可能要再上升一层,在新概念空间中产生新想法。有艺术家会做烧画的行为,这其中的意义是值得挖掘的。把画烧掉以后,一张纸经过碳基生物的一些能动性的编图绘画之后,最后我们碳基生物又决定把它销毁,它又变回了一堆碳,但是这个过程最后升华了,中间所经历的所有事情它升华成了一个加密艺术。升华之后的加密艺术,更是一种sbt,即一种代码或Token的灵魂,然后这种灵魂是用代码承载和约束的。所以加密艺术相当于回归到了硅基世界里面,它被承载了Crypto世界里面的价值关系。第二是未来时间的购买。我们现在说了很多,很多东西都是无限的,但是时间是有限的。然而解决对时间的可控性,是我们接下来时间内的主要议题。

在这之后,孙博涵给观众们介绍了一些Crypto艺术有关的展览和作品,以及MoMA等美国重要的美术馆、博物馆对加密艺术作品的收藏。收藏行为代表的是一种话语权,而美术馆也带有公众权力属性的一些认知。央美美术馆举办这一展览,并希望收藏加密艺术作品的想法也是一个好的开始。而在佩斯、高古轩等重要商业画廊也正在关注加密艺术,并与加密艺术建立密切的联系。


而说到AI,孙博涵给出了一个表格,梳理AI创作和人类创作的优缺点及各自优势。他认为,在AI生产的艺术作品中,在设定好的一个算法、指令里面,容易出错或者有特殊性的版本反而卖得很贵。算法的出错、算法的偶然性,也是硅基欲望的体现,这就回到我们一开始说的碳基和硅基,我们是否要向对方靠近,才能成为一种更好的可能。


最后,王春辰教授与孙博涵继续讨论了央美美术馆收藏加密艺术的问题。孙博涵解答说,这个问题需要回到加密艺术的流转问题上。央美美术馆作为一个机构接受加密艺术作品,要看作品在哪个链上,既要规避数字货币的问题,又要尊重作品本身在链上的确权。这个矛盾点可以通过合同或协议来解决。另外,国内现在也有一些联盟链,例如BSN、文昌链等,将来一定会搭载中国的区块链系统和国际区块链系统技术交易转移的窗口,做好以后在链上的捐赠、转移也没有任何问题。还有一种方式与实际的载体有关,例如可以通过一种叫硬件钱包的技术,先注册一个钱包,将钱包里的Token存在硬件钱包里面,再将硬件钱包捐赠给美术馆,美术馆可以随时提取,这也是在链上的。最后,王春辰教授总结,在链上的东西如何构成美术馆的藏品,而既然是藏品就不能再交易或者流通,这又会带来什么问题,也是需要考虑的。虽然美术馆收藏加密艺术还存在种种问题和挑战,但无论如何,美术馆收藏加密艺术作品仍是必然的趋势。

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
