“团体”,是艺术世界的一种常见工作方法,在艺术发展的早期就不断出现。一些艺术工作者以共同理念自发聚集在一起,通过集体创作和展览、研究等形式进行活动。从结果上看,这些艺术团体,可能促成了某个观念的传播与接收,可能形成了有别于个人创作的另一条艺术史叙事脉络,也可能记录了一段共同成长的友谊。此次展览即以“团体”作为切入以中央美术学院为坐标的中国美术史研究的一条线索,尝试梳理和展示中央美术学院百年发展史中各时期自组织艺术团体的文献,并抽取其中有历史代表性的若干团体作为样本进行剖析式的具体展示,故展览名为“研究与抽样展”。
在展览筹备中我们发现,很多在美术史上有重要贡献的艺术家都组织过或参加过艺术团体,历史上一些重要的艺术事件和创见也多与艺术团体的活动有关,但是有大量的团体因为存在短暂、松散或不稳定被历史所埋没,暂没有得到足够的重视。我们希望通过这一展览,展现“艺术团体”这种工作形式在20世纪以来的中国美术史中的特殊作用,尤其是在青年艺术中的重要意义。
展览的第一部分是文献研究区。以1920年至今、中央美术学院历史上的90个艺术团体的文献资料为内容,包含90份调研文本及37组实物文献。这其中,既有在中国现当代艺术史上留名的艺术团体,如“阿博洛学会”“艺光社”“形艺社”“北平美术作家协会”“中央美术学院学生摄影协会”“女画家的世界”“三人联合工作室”“四方工作室”“N12”等。

也有一些风格鲜明却鲜有研究的艺术团体,如美院最早团体“花阴画会”、设计团体“雪花社”、女性团体“姊妹画会”、先锋艺术团体“胡涂画会”、进步团体“徒步宣传团”、行为艺术团体“掉队小组”等。

还有一些近年来应用新媒介探索新的合作方式的艺术团体,如虚拟团体“TTTB Artist-Run Space小组”、相声团体“无人生还”、在地团体“地瓜社区”、自媒体矩阵艺术团体“想想工作室”、新媒体团体“某集体 ART+TECH”等。

因很多艺术团体的活动并未公开发表或非常零散,策展团队注重以“有组织理念”“举办过展览活动”作为艺术团体的定义依据,并参考了相关历史文献及院系口述史,最终圈定出展出的团体名单。这些不同历史时期团体的丰富多元的理念和行动、形式各异的展览和作品,将为观者勾勒出以中央美术学院为代表的20世纪中国艺术创作的另一种面貌。值得一提的是,在文本展示区,策展团队将这90个艺术团体融入同时期的200余个中国大陆地区的主要艺术团体中,以期为理解这些团体的时代背景做一个补充。
展览的第二部分是抽样团体展示区。策展团队从已经梳理的90个艺术团体中抽取了三个代表团体作为样本进行详细展开,展示其组织结构、团体特色、发展历程、创作作品。这三个团体是:北京地区首个传播西洋艺术的团体“阿博洛学会”(1920年代)、探索版画实验的“四方工作室”(1990年代)、呈现绘画更多可能性的“N12”(2000年代)。对这几个样本的选择兼顾了时代背景、团体持续时间与社会影响,以及中央美术学院美术馆藏作品和这些艺术团体之间的链接。

其中,“阿博洛学会”重要成员吴法鼎的作品《旗装女人像》和李毅士的作品《陈师曾像》,“四方工作室”成员苏新平的作品《寂静的小镇(之三)》、周吉荣的作品《景观——天坛》、王华祥的作品《城市幽灵2》,“N12”成员王光乐的作品《午后(二)》、梁远苇的作品《反光》、徐华翎的作品《另一种空间》、申亮的作品《瓶儿系列之二》、宋琨的作品《何处是我家》等皆为馆藏精品,有效地促进了藏品介入美术史专题研究之中。
三个样本展区多以团体活跃期的作品为展示内容,其目的在于引导公众重返团体发生现场;同时也重视展示成员在艺术团体中的个人成长,将团体成员早期与当下的作品并置展出,亦可作为观察艺术家成长与艺术团体之间相互关系的一个角度。

从构思、筹备到落地,策展团队在资料文献和作品商借方面获得了许多人的帮助,有艺术团体的亲历者、有关注艺术团体的院系师生、有艺术团体合作的社会机构,还有学院相关部门的前期工作成果。可以说,这是一个关注团体的展览,也是一个由团体完成的展览。不过,即便展览尽可能以全面作为一个目标,但对于美院百年历史中的各类艺术团体来说,展出的调研和抽样成果仍存在不尽完善之处,我们希望以此展作为这项“艺术团体研究”的开始,在展期内和展期后,通过丰富的学术教育活动,以及更多艺术团体同仁的帮助,对研究内容进行补充和丰富。
*在展览第一部分的艺术团体文献调研区,策展团队预留了一些空白的区域,期望有未调研到的艺术团体可以为展览补充他们的资料。

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement
I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.
CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer
Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.
Article II
Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.
Article III
Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.
Article IV
Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
