2023年11月3日,正是安特卫普皇家美术学院与我校联合举办的学生创作交流展“艺术之桥:从安特卫普到北京,再回来”展览开幕的第二天,安特卫普皇家美术学院院长约翰·帕斯(Johan Pas)的讲座:“安特卫普皇家美术学院:过去,现在和未来”在美术馆学术报告厅如期举行,本次讲座由中央美术学院国际合作与交流处处长王川教授主持,比利时AP大学中国事务负责人、项目协调人娄雁女士担任翻译,一同出席讲座的还有安特卫普皇家美术学院版画系主任皮特·波斯特尔(Peter Bosteels)、中央美术学院美术馆副馆长高高以及中央美术学院油画系的同学。
讲座伊始,主持人王川提到希望这是“来自一个欧洲古老美术学院的院长和我们的同学之间的一次很放松的对话”,作为欧洲非常古老的艺术院校之一,皇家美术学院的历史伴随了弗兰德斯地区的艺术发展。正如中央美术学院的历史就是中国近现代乃至当代艺术发展历程的见证一样,安特卫普皇家美术学院同样是欧洲现当代艺术发展的见证者和承担者。

接着,约翰校长以其特有的亲和力携着听众们的思绪,在时间与空间的双重维度漫步于安特卫普皇家美院的历史与校园之间。首先提及的是学院创办的历史,这所古典而精致的美院创建于1663年,在弗兰德斯艺术大师鲁本斯与范·戴克巨星陨落后的时代,艺术家戴维·特尼尔斯(David Teniers II)为安特卫普这座城市延续了艺术的光辉——成立了一所独立于政府,由艺术家创建的美术学院。

在接下来的几个世纪,屡次经历迁移和翻修,最初仅委身于股票市场中的小学院逐渐壮大成典雅的艺术家聚集地,并在艺术百花齐放的19世纪,又迎来了两位艺术巨星——后印象派画家文森特·梵高和比利时新艺术运动领袖及著名设计师和建筑师亨利·凡德·威尔德。
彼时的安特卫普更注重传统艺术方面的发展,由此使皇家美院对于“传统”的发展与未来有着更深刻的见解——而传统技术、个人理念以及当代观念三者的关系成为了贯穿皇家美院近现代教育的重点,也是约翰校长接下来讨论的核心之一。
现在的安特卫普皇家美术学院
二十世纪50年代当代艺术已经慢慢进入到了皇家美院,约翰校长提到皇家美院提倡学生不光要创作作品,更重要的是要向他们的老师、向观众、向批评家展示他们的作品以及艺术家相互展示。
约翰校长通过讲座向学生们介绍了学院的九个专业:雕塑、摄影、平面设计、装置艺术、珠宝设计、戏服设计、时装设计、油画、版画以及额外的硕士教师培训项目,并对每个专业做了介绍:

雕塑系要求学生要掌握切石、陶土、使用模具等技能,同时注重传统艺术和当代艺术的关联性。摄影系是介于纯艺与社会相互动之间的一个艺术,也做一些电影或者其他的艺术创作,学生们的作品经常在安特卫普的一些博物馆里展示。平面设计专注于三个方面,一是常规的平面设计;二是插图;三是数字化设计。装置艺术专业是利用空间去进行探索,包括环境、生态,任何一个材料都可以去尝试。老师们不给学生任何既定的主题,鼓励学生发现自我,最终创作出有个性的作品。这也使装置艺术系成为安特卫普皇美最具实验艺术特质的一个系。珠宝设计专业是把珠宝设计理解成某一种雕塑。虽然使用的是很传统的设备,但是它们表现的却是当代的艺术。

戏服设计专业最早叫演出设计,后来改成戏服设计,因为除了继续给演出制作服装外,也会给一些个性化的主题做设计。服装设计是皇美最大的一个系,更注重培养学生的个性化、创作力。享有盛名的安特卫普时装秀上,皇美从不把服装设计的学生当成一个商业的行为来做,而是让他们独自把作品向来自全世界各地的服装界品牌商、媒体杂志和专业设计师展示。

油画系的艺术家们都在一起绘画创作。约翰院长特别指出,除了老师和学生的交流,学生之间的交流也非常重要。版画系的学生们虽然用一些很老的设备和技术,有木刻、铜版、丝网等很多种,但却能创作出崭新的艺术作品。教师培训项目是训练学生把他们的艺术经验与技能传授给他人的能力,可以畅通交流,而且要跟公众分享。

通过课程安排不难发现,安特卫普皇家美术学院的教学非常强调学生对各个群体分享和表达彼此观念的能力。对学生来说他们展示自己的作品非常重要,要与外界有沟通、有交流,因此他们需要对自己的状况和方向非常了解。而在这样一所历史悠久的院校,传统工艺与当代艺术的关联性无疑也是重要的命题,诸多课程中不乏传统技法的传授,但在适当的引导下,学生的作品并不囿于传统。

此外,约翰·帕斯校长也介绍了学院丰富的活动。“马拉松绘画”活动邀请所有人在特定的区域,24小时不停地绘画,绘画不是光对学生开放,任何一个人,只要对绘画感兴趣,都能加入到这个行动中来。安特卫普皇家美术学院也会做一些与时尚主题相关的展示,比如创办于十年前的书展,每年都会举办一次,有很多作者、读者和出版商、图书收藏家都很喜欢来这个书展。约翰校长说到,安特卫普皇家美术学院不仅是一个学校,它也是社会的体现。除了学习、教学之外,皇家美院也会与社会互动,或把一些闲置空间对外开放并进行一些艺术行为;或使用公共场所展示学生作品,包括且不限于美术馆,街区,广场和花园。

讲座的最后,约翰校长把我们带到了一件由曾经的雕塑底座制成的装置作品面前——皇家美院初任校长的雕塑最初位于此处,而后才被转移到步行街前那更广为人知的广场中心。今年皇美成立360周年,一位学生用一件装置作品“重铸”这个底座。过去、现在和未来在这一点相互交织。
在讲座结尾,在听众对约翰院长的积极提问之后,王川教授对约翰校长以及参加讲座的听众深表感谢!他认为,中外展览合作以及双方教学理念的交流对于中国的美术教育意义深远,对学生而言,能够开阔眼界,拓展思维,有机会了解中西方美育的异同。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.
CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer
Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.
Article II
Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.
Article III
Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.
Article IV
Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
