展览研究工作坊介绍

2023年9月8日—10月22日,由中央美术学院美术馆主办的“何处寻行迹——馆藏古代绘画中的人与自然”展览在中央美术学院美术馆2层A展厅展出。作为文化和旅游部“2023年全国美术馆馆藏精品展出季”的入选项目,本次展览精选出横跨元明清三个朝代的馆藏山水人物画作品共50余件,分“四时景物”“意象玲珑”“人境相偕”三个版块,展现了中国传统文化思想中人与自然的共生关系。

随着本次展览的开幕,中央美术学院美术馆同时筹办了“何处寻行迹”展览研究工作坊,秉承中央美术学院美术馆的社会美育职能,旨在以新颖的模式鼓励年轻学子参与到与展览主题相关的科研项目中,尝试以浸入式教学让学员从展览前到展览后深入接触作品和展览,从多角度调动和激发青年学人对馆藏古代书画作品的深入研究以及探索美术史研究新视角。

本次工作坊通过中央美术学院美术馆的微信公众号平台招募学员共14名,学员学历背景包括中国美术史研究及中国画创作方向的硕博研究生,除在校生外,亦有来自嘉德教育等相关行业的研究工作者。工作坊主持为本次展览的学术顾问、中央美术学院人文学院院长黄小峰教授。

在9月25日的开班仪式上,黄小峰介绍了举办展览研究工作坊的初衷以及对各位学员的期望:本次工作坊是中央美术学院美术馆第一次以中国古代绘画为主题举办的研究工作坊,工作坊的学员同时也是这次展览的合作伙伴,希望能够借由学员对展览的深度参与和研究,共同发掘馆藏古代书画作品的价值和意义。

本次工作坊有着多角度、多学科的课程设置,学员们不仅要动耳听、动手画,也要动嘴讲,期望能够以此激发学员们天马行空的想象力与创造力,最终结合自身不同的学科背景,呈现出多渠道的、精彩的研究成果,共同把工作坊的“品味”做出来。

工作坊的课程共分为三个部分展开。第一部分是展览开幕后的系列公开讲座,先后邀请了邵彦、付阳华两位学者进行学术讲座,展现杰出学者的前沿成就,启发学员的研究思路;第二部分是工作坊的六次内部授课,分别邀请策展人以及艺术史、文学史和中国画创作等相关领域学者,带领学员多角度认识馆藏古代山水画作品;第三部分为最后的学员研究成果汇报,工作坊学员们根据前两个阶段的课程学习,确定各自选题并形成研究成果。

展览公开讲座

第一次公开讲座

时间:10月9日(周一)

讲座题目:

《何处寻龙脉——明清山水画的风格源流》

主讲人:邵彦(中央美术学院人文学院教授)

主持人:黄小峰(“何处寻行迹”展览学术顾问,中央美术学院人文学院院长、教授)

讲座地点:中央美术学院美术馆学术报告厅

讲座概述:

邵彦聚焦于“明清山水画的风格源流”这一核心问题,以展出作品为例,讲述了明清山水画如何继承和发展中古以来的传统、几条主要风格脉络又是如何对立与融合的。在讲座中,邵彦将此次展品依照风格分为浙派、吴门画派、金陵画派、董其昌传派和徽州画派,从其师承源流、用笔特点、题材偏好等角度进行了深入分析。并带来对晚明红树青山、变形主义等画坛新风的精彩解读。本此讲座不仅为展览提供了美术史的背景知识,也为工作坊学员后续的深入研究奠定了基础,拓宽了思路。


第二次公开讲座

讲座题目:

《何处寻桃源——明清之际遗民情境中的人物图像》

主讲人:付阳华(中国人民大学艺术学院教授)

主持人:高高(“何处寻行迹”展览统筹,中央美术学院美术馆副馆长)、郑弌(“何处寻行迹”展览策划顾问,中央美术学院人文学院副教授)

讲座地点:中央美术学院美术馆学术报告厅

讲座概述:

本次讲座以明清之际的遗民绘画为主题展开。展览中的许多展品都呈现出与明清易代后的遗民群体千丝万缕的联系,如樊圻的《抚梅图》、一智的《黄山峰顶图》等。在面对一幅意涵丰富的遗民绘画时,我们应当能够注意到“画中之人,是写实还是虚笔?”“画中之景,蕴含着何种情怀?”“人与景之间如何构成了一种映照与互文?”“他们又与今天的观看者间有什么联系?”这四重递进的问题。通过对项圣谟数本肖像、戴本孝画中的“洞中人”形象、杨补《怀古图咏册》、吴历《墨井草堂消夏图》等一系列遗民绘画案例的生动串讲,付阳华为我们揭示出遗民绘画潜藏于一般文人绘画之下的隐秘细节。付阳华的讲座为展览中的部分山水画提供了另一个观看视角,启发了学员们从画家处境与身份切入的研究角度。

授课人:刘希言(“何处寻行迹”展览策展人、中央美术学院美术馆副研究员)

课程方向:《策展思路与策展背后》

授课地点:中央美术学院美术馆2A展厅

课程概述:

在第一次的内部课程中,刘希言向学员们讲述了馆藏古代书画作品的购藏、鉴定、修复、出版等基本情况,并从策展人的视角出发,对本次展览的缘起、主题构思、视觉呈现等方面进行了系统介绍。本次展览的初衷在于通过对点景人物这一主题的强调,为观者提供一个更为亲切的观看视角,通过对山水画中人物活动的关注,引导观者思考古人与自然的关系。本次展览力图以现代感的设计加以呈现,主题墙海报、嵌进墙里的动画装置、可步入的置景、各个角落反复出现的“小人儿”,都在不断吸引观者沉浸到展览空间中,并由此深入到画作的空间之中。

第二次内部授课

时间:2023年9月25日(周一)

授课人:窦天炜(中央美术学院美术馆纸本修复师)

课程方向:《美术馆纸本修复》

授课地点:中央美术学院美术馆2A展厅、中央美术学院美术馆修复室

课程概述:

窦天炜从古画修复的角度向学员们介绍了本次展品的情况。在展出的五十余件绘画作品中,有不少都是经过修复才能以现在的面貌与公众见面的。如明代蓝瑛的《白云红树图》是由著名修复专家冯鹏生先生修复全色的,而展厅结尾处清代画家戴熙的《寒林东山图》状况也一度很差,纸张变脆翘起,是经过了细致的粘贴修复才让画面重新恢复平整。此外,学员们还一同参观了中央美术学院美术馆的纸本作品修复室。通过此次课程,学员们不仅从修复的视角深入了解了本次展品的“前世今生”,也对当下书画修复的观念、传统修复体系与流派、修复技法、修复常用材料都有了初步的认识。

第三次内部授课

时间:2023年9月26日(周二)

授课人:郭怀宇(故宫博物院副研究馆员)

课程方向:《鉴定中的风格与材料问题》

授课地点:中央美术学院美术馆2A展厅     

课程概述:

在面对一幅作品时,学院中的研究者常偏重对其内容、意义的解读与阐释,而博物馆的工作者则更多侧重于对作品本身的作者、风格、地区、时段等具体信息的判断。本次课程中,郭怀宇从一个“博物馆人”的读画视角出发,带领各位学员从书画鉴定的角度对展品进行了分析。通过对作品的风格、款识、题跋、材料等方面的细致考察,判断其真伪及年代。通过本节课,学员们初步了解了一些鉴定的基本方法,同时对明清时期的不同地区、不同画派的风格特点与师承谱系有了更为具体的认知,奠定了后续研究的基础。

第四次内部授课

时间:2023年9月27日(周三)

授课人:边凯(中央美术学院中国画与书法学院副教授)

课程方向:《山水画里的点景人物》

授课地点:中国画与书法学院临摹教室

课程概述:

在中国画导师边凯的指导下,学员们动手临摹了山水画中的山石和点景人物。边凯指出,从绘画实践的角度来看,不同的用笔风格包含着画家不同的运笔动作,每个动作节奏的微妙变化都影响着线条与画面的表现。如郭熙运笔时“抖动”的动作形成了独特的卷云皴,范宽的雨点皴也是由微微侧锋的“基本动作”不断变化而来。而绘画过程中身体的动作,也展现着古人对人与自然的关系的理解。用笔的风格特征也体现在对点景人物的描绘中,通过亲自示范,边凯为学员们直观地讲授了郭熙《早春图》和刘松年《四景山水图》中的点景人物的不同画法。通过边凯细致入微的讲解、示范、指导,学员们在动手临摹的过程中深入体会了手腕的翻转、手臂的移动、笔锋的顺逆、墨色的浓淡带来的不同效果,从实践的角度打开了研究古代山水画的新视角。

第五次内部授课

时间:2023年10月12日(周四)

授课人:董梅(中央美术学院人文学院教授)

课程方向:《文学与绘画中的仰观俯察——讨论中国文化中的“天地人”观看视角》

授课地点:中央美术学院美术馆2A展厅

课程概述:

董梅从自身古典文学的学术背景切入展览,引导学员们在展厅中探寻传统绘画语言与古典文学意象之间的关联,拓宽了读画的新视角。董梅指出,中国文化体系有一个典型的特点,就是它所有的文化形式、艺术形式都具有同一的精神源泉与价值源泉,这就构成了各种艺术之间对话的可能性和必要性。在中国传统的文学意象、绘画意象、音乐意象之间,是具有高度相似性和相通性的,其中文学意象又是更为根本、基础和广泛的。因此面对一幅绘画作品,在其视觉性呈现之外,如果能关联文学意象所蕴藏的含义,就能够对它精神认知的纵深有所发掘。

第六次内部授课

时间:2023年10月14日(周六)

授课人:郑弌(中央美术学院人文学院副教授)

课程方向:《从风景到景观:山水画叙事的经典化》

授课地点:中央美术学院美术馆会议室

课程概述:

工作坊的最后一次内部授课,由郑弌以“山水画叙事的经典化”为主题展开讲述。这种叙事的经典化常常是基于历代不断的误读而重新塑造出的一种历史书写与历史记忆。以文伯仁的《王维诗意图》扇面为个案,郑弌回溯了画中所表现的王维诗中“凤阙”意象的经典化过程。双凤阙是是西汉上林苑建章宫东宫门的宫阙建筑,随着西汉末年建章宫的焚毁,“凤阙”作为一个象征性的意象迅速地进入到经典化的叙事当中。从西汉象征政治和观念双重中心的通道,到东汉的画像石墓中作为王者往生升仙的通道,再到王维诗中对历史记忆与当下情景的融汇,“凤阙”在后世的文学与图像中不断被化用为新的经典化叙事,而文伯仁的《王维诗意图》正是一种对王维诗意“异代同调”的回应。

学员选题汇报

在展览研究工作坊的课程部分结束后,学员们从各自学科背景出发确定了研究选题方向。10月29日举办了“学员研究题目的汇报与交流会”,在陈冠石的主持下,学员们分享了各自的选题缘起与研究思路。国家博物馆副研究馆员姜鹏、中央美术学院人文学院讲师万笑石、中央美术学院人文学院副教授郑弌三位针对学员们的汇报给出了细致的评议与指导,为学员们随后的深入研究提供了启发与帮助。

学员成果汇报

12月15日,“何处寻行迹”展览研究工作坊学员成果汇报会在美术馆会议室举行。12位学员分四场就各自的主题展开了汇报与研讨,研究视角涵括传统美术史、鉴定学、民间美术等多个方面。每场汇报结束后,工作坊授课老师们针对每位学员的发言给出了详实的评议。黄小峰对此次工作坊的形式给出了高度评价,认为这是学院与美术馆的一次有机的合作,他也指出同学们的研究视野开阔、不落窠臼,并从美术史与视觉文化等角度对每位学员的课题给出了具体建议。

郭怀宇从扎实的鉴定学背景出发,针对学员们讨论作品的风格脉络、图式来源、真伪鉴定等方面给出了指导。郑弌则强调了艺术史研究中图像与观念的重要性,给学员以启发。李垚辰、窦天炜两位作为美术馆典藏部主任与修复师,从其与藏品大量接触的亲身经验出发,给学员们提供了新的材料与思路。姜鹏虽未到场,也请刘希言代为转达论文评议意见,并为学员们补充了相关的研究材料。汇报会结束后,刘希言、李垚辰、窦天炜、郭怀宇、郑弌、万笑石几位与学员们展开了圆桌讨论,李垚辰和刘希言表示希望未来有更多的机会组织此类展览研究工作坊,来拉动美术馆的展品深入研究,亦能为青年学者们提供更多的研究资源与更好的研究环境,相互促进,共同成长。他们也表达了对学员们研究成果的认可,希望这些课题在未来都能够以文章的形式呈现和发表出来。

董梅老师在10月12日《文学与绘画中的仰观俯察——讨论中国文化中的“天地人”观看视角》讲座上从文学角度出发来看中国画,而文字和语言最直接,其超越感官。中国文化体系是“万法同源”,核心是“天地人”,是“物我观”。例如我与春山,春山可居、可游,居于春山,春山于居。与白云期,共流水歌。我见春山,春山见我。我与春山,寄情于物。春山与我,寄物于情。春山,是我心中的追求啊!

作为美术史系曾经的学生,十分荣幸能加入工作坊学习。本次工作坊活动丰富多样,从策展、美术史、文学史、书画鉴定、材料与修复、国画实践等各个方面对展览进行系统阐释,在反复多次看展过程中逐步加深对美术馆藏画的了解,同时也引发对相关学术问题的思考。感谢学校美术馆提供这次学习机会,收获很大。

美术馆工作坊的深度学习让我受益匪浅。本次工作坊的课程依托展陈原作,从展览逻辑、鉴定鉴藏、书画修复、绘画方法、内外研究、文学价值的各个角度对一个展览进行了全方面系统地剖析和体验。为我们消弭了画中人、画者、观者三者之间维度隔阂,构建起了一个古今对话的思想场域。

在这次中央美术学院美术馆举办的“何处寻行迹”展览研究工作坊中,董梅老师从文学史的角度出发讲述对这次展览画作的理解,令我印象深刻。中国传统文化万法同源,诗书画并用一个文化符号,从文学意象出发,可以深度解析画家潜在传达出的思想观念,为我们的研究提供了思想性的指导。


总结

本次研究工作坊是“何处寻行迹”展览的重要组成部分,亦是多方协作的结果。经由此,美术馆的展览、典藏、公教职能与学院中的教学、研究职能形成有机结合,不仅促进青年学者的前沿学术研究,亦能活化美术馆典藏,继而为大众提供更具学术深度与新颖视角的展览。

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
