前言

Foreword

The Spirit of Ceramics: 2021 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale was successfully held in February 2022 in Jingdezhen and received wide acclaim. The "Jingdezhen International Ceramic Biennale Excellent Works Touring Exhibition" is an international cultural communication project supported by the National Art Fund this year, reflecting the importance the state attaches to the international communication of ceramic culture. The purpose of the exhibition is to carry forward the "spirit of ceramics", enhance the sense of national cultural identity and firm cultural self-confidence, display the latest creative achievements in the field of ceramic art from all over the world in China, share the creative experience and case studies of outstanding artists, strengthen academic exchanges, and promote the development of ceramic culture, art, industry and ceramic education, expand the way of talent cultivation, and stimulate the vitality of innovation.

Without a doubt, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, as a domestic leader and globally influential university, plays a crucial role in both the cultivation of artistic talents and in serving the cultural and economic construction of local areas, achieving outstanding results. In recent years, with the concern and support of the leadership and colleagues and friends at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the establishment of the CAFA Ceramic Art Institute at Taoxichuan in Jingdezhen has facilitated direct exchanges and transformation between the academic achievements of CAFA and the Jingdezhen ceramic cultural industry. A series of high-quality exhibitions, lectures, and forums have been organized, promoting the urban renewal and iterative development of industries in Jingdezhen. CAFA students have also found in their internships in Jingdezhen not only more materials for creation but even coordinates for significant life stages. At the same time, it has strengthened the cooperation and exchanges between the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Jingdezhen Ceramic University, becoming a model of collaboration between art colleges and local governments, enterprises, and local colleges. Graduates of CAFA working in Jingdezhen adhere to the academic rigor and self-awareness of the older generation of CAFA members in Jingdezhen and play an active role in the ceramic industry, educational institutions, and urban construction.

Therefore, the touring exhibition to the Central Academy of Fine Arts carries significant historical and practical meaning. The exhibition serves not only as an expression of respect for the graduates of the ceramic department from the 1950s who have made extraordinary achievements and outstanding contributions to the academic leadership and discipline construction at Jingdezhen Ceramic University but also as a manifestation of the concrete actions of cooperation between the city of Jingdezhen, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Using the touring exhibition as an opportunity, within the framework of the construction of the Jingdezhen National Ceramic Culture Inheritance and Innovation Pilot Zone, high-quality and international exhibitions will promote academic exchanges and transformation with the Central Academy of Fine Arts, innovative talent training, comprehensive collaborative innovation cooperation, and diverse international ceramic art exchanges. Together, we aim to create a model of joint construction between institutions, and between institutions and local governments and enterprises.

Although Beijing and Jingdezhen are thousands of miles apart, we are close as if just within reach!

Let's walk hand in hand together!
