As the 2026 Graduation Season unfolds at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Public Education Department of CAFAM and the Art Museum Management Studio of the School of Arts Management and Education have jointly launched a new practice of museum-school collaboration, presenting the public education series Awakening In Colors· Art for All Ages.
Centered around the graduation art showcases, this initiative builds a sincere "public living room" for participants of all ages to interact with one another, exploring new possibilities for public art education to bridge generational gaps. The museum is reimagined as a generational creative space where everyone is an equal participant -- Using art as a medium and creation as a catalyst, people across age groups connect and communicate through hands-on creation, becoming equal and dynamic artistic partners to one another.

This workshop is inspired by the graduation creation Evolution & Nurturing Childhood: A Study on Localized Children's Art Education in Xiamen. Centering on children's art education and emotional expression, the work features a collage experiment themed "Little Black Sprites". Guided by stories, participants are encouraged to cut freely and piece fragments together. From a third-person perspective, children can visualize their inner imaginations and express their true emotions.
Carrying forward the creative concept of the original work, this art experience workshop kicks off with the tale of Mysterious Black Shapeshifting Creatures on Campus, leading both adults and children into a fantastic world of imagination. Using black card paper, participants will create their own unique black sprite creatures through cutting, collage and drawing. You may choose to make emotion sprites, object sprites, guardian sprites or dream sprites, among other themes. In a relaxed environment free of judgment and rigid standards, you can create while brainstorming, and endow your sprites with names, backgrounds and exclusive stories.
No prior artistic skills are required, and there are no restrictions on creative styles. The workshop is especially ideal for young children and parents to join in together. Let us take paper as our medium and fragments as our forms, and embark on an artistic journey full of childlike fun and creativity!

Work Title: Evolution & Nurturing Childhood – Emotion Sprites
Material: Resin
Dimensions: 151×133×70 (6 pieces), 270×270×30
Design Statement: This work transforms the abstract understanding and regulation of emotions into a tangible, stackable and interactive embodied experience, helping children visualize their feelings and learn to express and regulate emotions. The Emotion Sprites form an intelligent interactive system composed of six core emotion modules. Children can stack identical modules to indicate emotional intensity, and combine different modules to express mixed emotions. When the modules are connected to the smart base, an interactive agent is activated to communicate with children like a friend, guiding them to sort out emotions and share stories. The supporting online community enables emotion record-keeping and social sharing, building a complete loop from self-awareness to social engagement.
