For a long time, undergraduate education has stood as a top priority within the teaching framework of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). The academy values its undergraduates not only through meticulous tutoring from numerous distinguished master artists, but more importantly on account of these young budding artists’ malleable creative potential, sharp artistic intuition rooted in real-life observations, and sincere artistic articulation. When their vibrant youthful vitality collides head-on with diverse facets of contemporary society, incisive and stirring sparks of artistic creation emerge. Fueled by heartfelt emotions, earnest creative stances and vivid expressive prowess, these outstanding artworks have served as career-defining debut pieces for their undergraduate creators. They have also fostered a long-standing fine tradition whereby CAFA’s undergraduate graduation creations attract extensive attention from all walks of society, and to a notable extent, contributed profoundly to shaping the evolution of modern and contemporary Chinese art.
The current edition of CAFA’s Undergraduate Graduation Exhibition is split into two phases. Phase One ran from May 20 to June 3, 2026, featuring graduate works by undergraduates from the School of Urban Design, Department of Oil Painting, Department of Mural Painting, School of Arts Management and Education, School of Art Restoration, and School of Experimental and Tech Art. The exhibited pieces span core artistic dimensions, including urban-themed creation, painting, arts administration, art conservation, as well as art forms empowered by cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and interactive media.
Phase Two of the Undergraduate Graduation Exhibition will open to the public from June 8 to June 22. Participating schools and departments cover the School of Chinese Painting, School of Calligraphy, Department of Printmaking, Department of Sculpture, School of Humanities, School of Design, School of Architecture, and School of Continuing Education. The venue will be temporarily closed to visitors from June 4 to June 7 for exhibition installation and dismantling preparations. All visitors are advised to plan their trips accordingly.
