Forever Young---“阿涅斯•瓦尔达的海滩在中国”公众教育活动纪实报道

题记:1954年,她拍摄了处女作《短角情事》,以先锋形式与拍摄方法启发后来者,被誉为“法国电影新浪潮祖母”,她亦是法国电影新浪潮运动中唯一的女性;1957年她应周恩来总理的邀请以“中国通”的身份来到中国采访拍摄,结下了与中国的不解之缘;2012年,身为电影导演、摄影师的她带着特别为中央美术学院美术馆设计的装置作品,以装置艺术家的新身份再次来到中国。

对于她的描述,大可只用两个字涵盖:青春。她的青春无关年华,而在心境;她的青春无关桃面丹唇,而在恢弘的想象与生命的炙热。就在2012年这个乍暖还寒的早春3月,每位步入中央美术学院美术馆的人,都可以感受到她带来的那仿佛春泉般涌动的青春:中国红门、龙头与希腊塑像的组合… …这就是我们所认识的她,虽已是耄耋之年,但心中仍保有对生命的欢乐,对新奇的诱惑,仍如孩童般筑梦、逐梦的阿涅斯.瓦尔达(Agnès Varda)。

310日,新闻发布会、展览开幕式、展览参观、电影播放与分享,一切的活动都在有条不紊的进行着。瓦尔达形容此次的中国行,是一次奇遇和圆梦之旅。展览最终完美的呈现就是团队间的合作所创作的奇迹,不同文化背景的团队跨越了言语沟通的障碍,彼此之间找到了对文化的“需要”与“感情”。瓦尔达忘情的对大家说:“在这样一个充满嘈杂与冲突的世界里,仍然能以愉悦的心情表达自己,这是一个多么奇特的经历!到处都有人打仗,到处都有苦难,自然灾害。然而我们还是需要文化和艺术,全世界各地的艺术家都在创造着一些看法不同.呼吸不同的空间。艺术是风,我们需要它四处吹送,也愿这风带来美丽,吹走纷争。”她那如诗般的话语,使在场的人们如沐春风。此行,她也如春风般带来了55年前对中国深切而美丽的文化记忆以及电影和最新的装置作品。开幕式现场的火热气氛也应了春风送暖这句话,记得05年的时瓦尔达受邀来到中国时曾说:“原本以为大家只喜欢苏菲.玛索,没想到我在中国也有如此多的人喜欢我。”时隔几年再次面临大家的热情和媒体们的长枪短炮时,她却笑称:“虽然我今天穿了与海报上一样的衣服,但我仍希望躲在我的作品后面,所以请大家不要聚焦和围观我了,花些时间来仔细观看我的作品吧。”瓦尔达希望大家不要只是关注艺术家本人如躯壳的外在,而是要通过观看他们的作品来洞悉其艺术灵魂。

在大家对于瓦尔达的作品有了一个初步的认识和了解后,312日下午2点钟的首场讲座与对话活动上,主讲人法国著名影评人让-米歇尔.付东先生对新浪潮的定义,以及法国电影新浪潮对世界电影工业的影响等,做了精彩的阐释。

第二场讲座与对话活动,于下午5点钟在美术馆学术报告厅举行,瓦尔达与城市设计学院电影系负责人宁瀛、让-米歇尔.付东展开了关于“电影中现实与虚构”的对话。瓦尔达同大家分享了,自己从影近五十年以来的经历,以及她在几乎所有影片中反复的诉说——私人的内心的问题与社会的问题的相遇,所形成的反差。也无时无刻都在考虑怎样利用电影语言去表达——融想象于现实。她说:“在电影《阿涅斯的海滩》中,我希望大家看到两个表述重点。第一个是关于“自画像”,假如有一个人要为自己画自画像时,那么她首先会从镜子里看自己,而影片中的我将镜子转过来,我想让镜子面对别人,面对观众,面对我想看到的人,面对可以成就这部纪录片的“人物的素材”;在片中,我坐船到了巴黎,实际上那只是一种演绎,但我就是想用这种演绎的方法,让观众们感受到了纪录片中的真实。”对于瓦尔达作品理解颇深的让-米歇尔.付东先生分享道:“在《五点到七点的克莱奥》这部片子中,瓦尔达导演与大家玩了一个时间的游戏。影片以一种几近真实时间的报导方式,来讨论时间的真实性。五点到七点的两小时是影片的长度,也是观众同主人公共同度过的时间。时钟的画面不断出现,仿佛提醒着观众,在某一时间临界点,就会迎来对主人公的生死审判。” 瓦尔达也分享了自己对于时间的理解,她认为时间并不是什么‘东西’。事实上,时间并不真实的存在。它更象是一个坐标,而我们在特定的时间中所做的事情,才是确实存在的。

此次的对话中,瓦尔达不仅忘却疲惫的为大家讲述着、分享着,而且,还不时主动发问、并认真倾听。譬如,她与宁导演就“导演从镜头后走向镜头前”这一话题交换了看法。宁导演分别从中国影人所处于的电影大环境,以及导演个人创作风格等角度分享了对这个话题的看法。观众们在他们的讲述与分享中,仿佛进行了一次跨越时间与空间的心灵旅行,感受到了瓦尔达作品中现实与虚构的交织而组成的绚烂。

313日中午11点,瓦尔达女士应宁瀛老师的邀请,亲自为城市设计学院电影系的同学导览。她从一进美术馆的大门就可以望见的装置作品《中国红门》为起点,带领大家走入1957年的回忆之门,开始了她的讲述。“这个装置是我为此次展览而特别制作的。游戏用的积木,首先开启了我对这个中国红门的想象,至于屋顶的建造时,我用了晾衣服所用的木夹子。就这样,我先制作出了一个小的模型,然后再根据美术馆的空间,将其放大。”接着,她眼中闪烁着灵动的光芒,并指向一幅作品,说:“大家看这幅照片,挑担子的既有年幼的孩子,又有年迈的老人,他们挑着的担子似乎很沉重,我不禁被他们的这种旺盛的精力所感染,想将这一切定格成为永恒。”她又带领大家到了另一幅照片前,指着照片中正在表演杂技的红衣小女孩,瓦尔达微笑着,眼中闪过一丝狡黠。“这幅照片应该是在某地的杂技团拍摄的,大家看这个小女孩的杂技动作,你们中有人可以做这样的动作吗?”有一位同学马上举手示意。瓦尔达瞪大了充满好奇的双眼,边笑边做了一个邀请的手势“来吧,请给我们表演一下吧。”顿时,同学们笑作一团。瓦尔达说,《中国红门》上的六张照片,是她特别在数以百计的作品中精挑细选的。她希望每一位走入美术馆的人,都可以通过这道“历史之门”,与她一起以照片为窗,凝视时间与记忆。

带大家走过中国红门,瓦尔达停下来指着美术馆长廊上壁竉,兴奋的说“请大家望向那里,当我第一次走进这个美术馆,就发现五个壁竉上摆放着代表西方古典艺术的雕像,也许是由于他们的存在,美术馆平添了些许的肃穆和凝重之气,少了点儿轻松和童趣氛围。于是,我向王馆长提出了我的想法,并在他与布展团队的帮助下,将原本白色的墙壁变成粉红色。找来了龙头.大头娃娃等带有中国元素的材料,做装置作品。大家看这件中国龙头希腊神像身的作品是不是很有趣!为什么选择龙呢?因为属龙的我在龙年来到了中国,我要给美术馆里增添一条龙。其次,龙也是我喜欢的形象,它来源于想象,是中国人智慧的凝结。” 紧接着,她又为学生们讲述了“叼着骨头的马”等装置作品。她如向日葵般微笑着,说:“我觉得我是幸运的,甚至有时我觉得自己是被宠爱的,有很多的人帮助我实现我脑中迸发的艺术狂想。”从话语中我们可以感受到她对中国的情感是那样的炙热。这一件件作品,是思想与文化碰撞的火花,向大家展示出瓦尔达那不曾被岁月打败的青春。

同学们跟随瓦尔达穿过记忆的门,艺术狂想的长廊,经过电影海报、自画像… …瓦尔达像个小女孩一样,向大家展示着她宝物盒里的每一件宝贝。“现在我们一同离开城市,步入海滨吧。”她带领大家来到了装置作品《海边》旁,然后有请大家同她一起坐在椅子上,详细的解释了这件装置作品的三部分——上方是海的照片,她请大家想象一下此刻风卷着海浪腾起的景象;其下是海浪冲刷的影像,不仅看得到海浪的运动,而且听得到浪花拍岸的声音;地面上是真实的沙子。这三部分,分别代表着想象、电影、现实。她将这一切交融在一起,进行了一次有关虚幻与现实的探讨。她也想用这件作品做一个有关于时间与空间实验,她举例说:“就好比大家闲暇时,可能会在海滩上消磨午后的闲暇时光,但是,你会在这件装置作品前坐多久呢?几分钟?还是匆忙一瞥就离开了。”可以感受到,瓦尔达很在意“人的感觉”,她也为每一个走近她作品的观众,制造了一个可以“停留的时间”,同时,也为大家创造了自由选择的机会。

《乒乓球、塑料拖鞋和露营营地》、《茨古古的墓地》… …她讲述着这些作品,分享着她的爱与回忆。在名为《乌托邦之薯》的作品前她坐下来,在讲解中大家得知,这件装置的大型的三折屏幕下方摆放着百公斤的真土豆。此时,在嗅觉上,可以闻到土豆的香气;在视觉上,可以看到心形土豆那皱老的表皮上萌生出新芽。时而又可见瓦尔达的脸出现在土豆堆中,仿佛她也化身成了可爱的土豆;听觉上,有屏幕中心的土豆发出的呼吸声,那是瓦尔达在《拾穗者与我》中捡拾的心形土豆。在感官的多重刺激影响下,观者时而会产生“被催眠”的感觉。仿佛也成了这个乌托邦中的一个土豆,平实的躯壳即使老去,也要萌生新芽,即使被压抑也要奋力的呼吸,也要在彼此间传递着低沉的申诉。

在整场的导览过程中,她详细的为学生们讲解了几乎每一件作品。这些作品不仅浸润着鲜明的瓦尔达风格,而且可以映射出作为世界中渺小个体的我们。这是一次视觉艺术的教育,通过瓦尔达的导览,同学们不仅了解了她观看事物的角度(ways of seeing)和表达方式(ways of telling)。瓦尔达希望通过这些作品以及她的讲述,可以激励每一个人,无论是日常的生活还是艺术的创作,都如她一样永葆青春的热情。

视觉艺术的解读与文化的建构
讲座与对话 之三:谈艺术创作:摄影与电影

313日下午2点,在美术馆学术报告厅,瓦尔达与让-米歇尔.付东先生同大家一起就“电影与摄影中的艺术创作”这个话题进行了第三场的互动交流。瓦尔达在分享名为《黑寡妇》的装置作品时说:“同渔村的十四位被访者一样,我也是一名寡妇,丧夫的相同的经历使得我们彼此产生的信赖。这种信赖帮助被访者冲出了“镜头恐慌”的障碍,与我畅所欲言。这样才有大家看到的自然与真情流露。”同时,瓦尔达也考虑到了观看装置的观众,作品中十四位寡妇每人都占据一块小荧屏,每个小荧屏又各自连接了耳机,观众们可以坐在椅子上,自由选择想听哪个被访人的话语,这一选择过程好似一次私密访谈。瓦尔达又用居中的大屏幕,将被访者们聚集在一起。因为她认为,观众“选择观看”这种行为虽然是单独的,但她用影像可以将这一切单独的行为和孤独的情感做了艺术的汇聚。

在交流与对话中,瓦尔达与让-米歇尔.付东不止一次提到视觉艺术(visual art)中观看意义。无独有偶,英国著名艺术批评家John Berger 在他的影像阅读著作<Another way of telling>中也曾写道:“摄影师选择被拍摄的瞬间, 是一种文化的建构,是一种他对于眼前所发生时间的“解读”,John Berger 的这种说法适用一切视觉艺术的解读。面对庞大纷杂无主题的世界,瓦尔达的眼总可以犀利、敏锐划过人间的事态,再以视觉艺术为方式,呈现给我们她所看到的,世界的暗角和感动。无论是摄影作品、电影还是装置都可以看得出她对社会变迁以及人们的生活方式的关注。通过视觉艺术,她不仅将眼界和视角的呈现给大家,也通过艺术让观众触摸到她内心因思念亡夫而孤独的冷或对新事物充满好奇与渴望的灵魂的热。

影像中实验精神的驱动力和曙光
电影创作与交流活动:阿涅斯.瓦尔达影像奖颁奖礼

313日下午5点,“阿涅斯.瓦尔达影像奖”颁奖典礼在美术馆学术报告厅举行。颁奖礼以中央美术学院城市设计学院电影系学生为瓦尔达特别制作的欢迎短片作为开场。这个特别的开场,让瓦尔达欣喜无比,她表示虽然片子的内容她不能完全理解,但是很喜欢同学们的创意,也感谢同学们这份特别的心意,她希望可以将片子的拷贝带回法国。城市设计学院电影系负责人宁瀛导演为大家介绍这个奖项缘起的始末以及奖项评选过程。接下来同学们在观看入选作品的片花后,聆听了两位大师精彩且细致的点评。虽然是稍显稚嫩的学生作品,但两位大师的点评却无半点含糊,他们认真的准备近十页的点评稿,点评中他们指出了学生们在配乐和旁白方面的不足,也称赞了一些作品画质与形式上的美感以及传递感情的准确性等。大师们的分析无论是在思想力度上,还是在内容效度上都让人为他们的专业、睿智所折服。近二十余部作品,评出了三个入围奖与一个优秀奖,使大家惊喜的是,获得优秀奖的是一位女生,这真是一个美丽的巧合。她也将由大奖组委会安排,赴法国电影节进行参观交流。希望这个宝贵机会,会为她以后的艺术创作之路带来更多的灵感与更美的际遇。“阿涅斯.瓦尔达影像奖”颁奖礼中,入围的四部极具实验风格的作品,让大家看到了注重人才培养与学术交流的中央美术学院,出现了中国独立电影的曙光。

后记:人们之所以会老去,并不是因为年龄的增加,而是因为他们抛弃了梦想与信念。年华虽可以在我们的脸上刻下皱纹,却无法消减我们灵魂的热度。在面对如此青春的瓦尔达,那忘却疲惫的分享与讲述,每位聆听者的者都好似走进了一片美丽的海滩,每颗沙粒都关乎她的生活,每枚贝壳都在讲述她的故事。她的海滩上摆放着镜子,镜中我们不仅看到了瓦尔达,也看到了我们自己。因为她的作品讲述的不只有“自我”也有深切的人文关怀,真实且客观的反映出社会及人们意识形态中的最真实的姿态。

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
