中央美术学院美术馆重大发现
——李叔同代表作《半裸女像》(油画)重见天日
2012年3月27日下午,中央美术学院美术馆召集国内邵大箴、钟涵、郎绍君、李树声、陶咏白、刘曦林、商金林、尹吉男、殷双喜、朱青生、郑工、李伟铭、刘新、李超、陈星、赵力、曹庆晖、叶永和等二十余位专家召开“李叔同油画《半裸女像》鉴定及研讨会”,会上,馆长王璜生教授公布了李叔同代表作油画《半裸女像》重新发现经过及相关的考证研究结果,同时,提出一些需进一步厘清的问题请教于与会专家学者。专家学者们对这一重新发现表示出极大的兴奋和关注,积极热烈地发表了意见,同时也就一些问题提出中肯及不同的专业观点。
2011年年末,中央美术学院美术馆对的民国时期藏品作了比较认真深入的整理,在中央美院美术馆的库房里发现并确认了像李毅士、吴法鼎、张安治、孙宗慰等重要艺术家的多件作品,其中有些作品尺寸很大并且是艺术家 的代表作,但是,最重要的发现,是李叔同的代表作油画《半裸女像》。这件作品的发现可谓是中国文化史、美术史上的重大事件。对与李叔同学术研究和中国早期油画研究的意义重大。
李叔同是中国二十世纪的传奇人物,他是“二十文章惊海内”的大师,集诗、词、书画、篆刻、音乐、戏剧、文学于一身,在多个领域,开中华灿烂文化艺术之先河。他把中国古代的书法艺术推向了极至,“朴拙圆满,浑若天成”,鲁迅、郭沫若等现代文化名人以得到大师一幅字为无尚荣耀。他是第一个向中国传播西方音乐的先驱者,所创作的《送别歌》,历经几十年传唱经久不衰,成为经典名曲。同时,他也是将西画引进中国的先驱,具有极高的绘画成就,并且是中国第一个开创裸体写生的教师。他卓越的艺术造诣,先后培养出了名画家丰子恺、音乐家刘质平等许多文化名人。他中年出家,号弘一,苦心向佛,过午不食,精研律学,弘扬佛法,普渡众生出苦海,被佛门弟子奉为律宗第十一代世祖。他为世人留下了咀嚼不尽的精神财富,他的一生充满了传奇色彩,他是中国绚丽至极归于平淡的典型人物。赵朴初先生评价大师的一生为:"无尽奇珍供世眼,一轮圆月耀天心。"
李叔同早年留学日本,毕业于日本东京美术学校,专攻西画。在日本学习期间,他就参加过由黑田清辉主持的白马会的两届展览,入选作品多幅,为中国之第一人,并且得到了业界的好评。回国后,李叔同在执教浙江第一师范期间,在中国首次开设了人体写生课,开中国美术教学之先河。李叔同的学生吴梦非在一篇文章中提到,李叔同“平时作品中最伟大的要数油画”, 而出家后,李叔同就不再从事西画创作。但现在李叔同存世的作品非常稀少,存世的油画作品据传仅有三张。而这之中,仅存一件人体油画作品,也是李叔同的代表作《半裸女像》(油画),这幅作品曾在很多的杂志及美术史著述及李叔同的传记中刊登过图片,一些文章中也有过相关描述。
据记载,1918年李叔同在出家之前,曾将所藏油画作品寄赠给了当时的北京美术学校(中央美术学院前身),但这批作品后来下落不明,据传丢失。
本次,中央美术学院美术馆整理发现的这幅《半裸女像》正是传说中的那幅人体油画作品。据传最后收藏在中央美术学院,但之前多次寻找未果。据有关记载此幅作品应为1959年转入中央美院收藏,后来应该就一直在库房内存放,不知何时被划入了外国油画的部分,并且在作者姓名一栏一直空缺。可能这也是多次寻找未果的原因吧。
这幅油画《半裸女像》作品画幅很大,宽116厘米、高90厘米,画面当中一女子半裸上身,双目微闭,斜倚在椅子上,画面恬静、优美。现在这幅油画画面除多处有折痕的画面颜料部分脱落外,整体画面保存尚好。画作在百年之后的今天,尘土之下的画面依然栩栩如生,用笔灵动、色彩十分高级,是油画作品中的上乘之作。
这幅作品的流传过程中与丰子恺、刘质平、吴梦非、夏丏尊、叶圣陶、吴作人等多位文化名人都有着千丝万缕的联系,其传奇的流传经历可谓让人兴奋。
这幅作品在沉寂百年之后,终于重见天日,实属不易。这一重大发现对于研究李叔同,研究李叔同的艺术无疑是极为重要的实物资料。也会引起社会各界的关注与讨论。这幅作品的确认,为中国近代美术史,填补了重要空白,为中国近代文化发展书写了浓重的一笔。
对于李叔同《半裸女像》(油画)的保护与研究将陆续展开,并更加深入。相信不久的将来,这一艺术瑰宝将会展示在公众面前,供大家欣赏。中央美术学院美术馆对于民国时期的作品的整理也会继续进行。我们相信会有更多的成果的出现,让我们拭目以待。

CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.
CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer
Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.
Article II
Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.
Article III
Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.
Article IV
Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
