“董希文与油画中国风”专题研讨会综述

由中央美术学院美术馆主办的“百年辉煌·中央美术学院艺术名家:油画中国风——董希文百年诞辰纪念展”于2014年12月19日上午十点在中央美术学院美术馆隆重开幕。同日,配合此次展览的“董希文与油画中国风”专题研讨会顺利举行。

此次研讨会共分三节,受邀参会嘉宾共计七十余人,从上午十一点一直持续到晚上七点半。前两节分别在美术馆贵宾厅和5号楼电教报告厅举行,参会嘉宾主要是董希文先生的学生和家属、朋友,发言内容主要围绕董希文的历史回顾和教学传承两个方面。第三节于下午四时在美术馆贵宾厅举行,来自各美术院校、艺术机构的专家学者纷纷发言,集中讨论董希文艺术的学术意义。

会议第一节由邵大箴和袁运生主持,邵大箴对此次展览给予了高度的评价,然后与会嘉宾分别发言。侯一民简要介绍了此次展览在央美举办的前因后果,对中央美术学院的两位杰出艺术家徐悲鸿、董希文表达敬意,也为两人均在58岁去世表示感慨和惋惜。作为董希文的入党介绍人,他回忆了董希文入党时,从“以专长为党服务”到“服从党的需要”的思想发展变化,以及他在“反右”、“文革”中受到的不公待遇,赞扬了董希文真诚、真挚的品格。侯一民对有些人认为的政治性题材作品害了董希文的说法表示不赞同,他指出《千年土地翻了身》、《抗美援朝》等重要作品都是董希文饱含真情实感的自发创作,而非政治任务。此外,侯一民还谈及董希文在壁画方面的远见、为央美陈列馆收藏做出的重要工作等,主张对像董希文这样的央美老先生应该给予重视、加强宣传。

杨先让和闻立鹏都谈到了董希文在50年代“反右”运动前后的经历。杨先让根据自己的经历和听闻,叙述了董希文在“反右”运动中没有被打成“右”派,而被留党察看两年的相关历史。他深刻感受到那个时代的作家、艺术家战战兢兢、提心吊胆的创作状态,对董先生不幸的遭遇和悲凉的晚景表示痛心。闻立鹏着重讲述了两件往事,一是1957年董希文在“五月会议”上与文化部领导争论、为江风辩护;二是董希文对《人民日报》拖延、轻视报道朱德总司令参观“马克西莫夫油画训练班”结业展览一事表示愤慨。说明了董希文如何因这两件事受到处分的来龙去脉,为其遭受的政治不公和艺术制约表示不平,赞扬了董希文“整整齐齐做事,端端正正做人”的优秀品格。

靳之林在1947年进入北平艺专学习,回忆1948年北平艺专组织的大型展览,深感徐悲鸿对董希文的重视,并指出其作品在年轻学生中间最受推崇。靳之林既是董希文的学生也是他的助教,对董希文的艺术和教学思想有较清晰的了解。看到了董希文在学习西方和中国传统方面的广博性与灵活性。对于董希文工作室培养学生的目标,他说一是油画民族化,二是油画民族化基础上的百花齐放。而对于怎样实现这一目标,董希文先生的回答是:“要看有没有中国人的血液”。李天祥在发言中也证明了徐悲鸿对董希文的器重,并提醒我们关注董希文在1949年主笔创作巨幅《毛主席像》这一重要事件。

庞涛、詹建俊、赵友萍的发言都十分重视董希文的成就对当今中国艺术发展的意义。庞涛强调董希文的艺术思路非常广泛,其民族风格的创造是基于对中国传统文化基因的继承,这是民国一代知识分子对中国西洋化的忧患意识的体现,而这正是今天中国年轻一代缺乏的,以此呼吁我们应该加深对中国优秀传统文化艺术的了解和继承。詹建俊对董希文作为艺术家和美术教育家的两方面成就都给予了充分肯定,指出其博采众长、汲取中西的艺术和教学思想对培养人才的重要意义。赵友萍认为此次展览不仅是对董先生艺术人生的回顾,也是我们再认识董希文的重要平台。纪念的目的是为了学习,董希文先生如何对待艺术、如何创作等等都是值得后辈好好借鉴的。庞涛还回忆了自己上中学时董希文亲赴广州请其父庞熏琹赴京工作的往事。也谈及董希文绘制《开国大典》过程中向学生征求意见、在相对简陋的条件下进行创作的等事情,让我们对这幅名作的创作过程有了进一步了解。

最后董希文的女儿董一沙和儿子董沙雷作了发言。董一沙主要介绍了此次编辑出版的董希文画册的情况,画册共收录了300多幅董希文先生的作品,既有完整作品也有创作草稿,全面介绍了董希文一生的艺术历程。董沙雷对父亲一生的为人、从艺作出了自己的评价,认为董希文心灵单纯,政治幼稚,他为事业和理想而奋斗,热爱艺术、热爱生活、热爱亲友,无论在艺术上还是家庭中都是伟大的。

研讨会第二节从下午两点开始,一直到晚上七点半,由马璐和孙景波主持。马璐首先声明这一节会议时间宽裕,每位与会者都可畅所欲言。孙景波介绍了参会嘉宾,然后谈起自己当年与董希文接触的感受,特别是对董先生在生命最后阶段还对他和姚钟华谆谆教诲一事尤为感动,同时对亦师亦友的姚钟华表达了敬意。

常沙娜是常书鸿之女,在与会者中年纪最大、与董希文接触最早。1944年董希文夫妇从重庆去到敦煌,十几岁的常沙娜称董希文之妻张琳英为张姐姐。她讲述了在敦煌董希文夫妇对她的照顾、董希文长子董沙贝出生、在北京想去看望张琳英等往事。指出董希文对敦煌艺术的吸收是其日后艺术创作的重要源泉,同时介绍了自己当前在图案设计方面做的一些工作,提倡今天的图案设计更应重视敦煌艺术,从中汲取营养。侯黎明是敦煌研究院美术研究所的所长,他接着谈了敦煌艺术对董希文的影响。

刘秉江、李秀实、邵伟尧都是董希文工作室的学生,刘秉江、邵伟尧当时被批为“白专”,李秀实则被认为出身不好,在学校都受到许多不公待遇,因此董希文对学生一视同仁的大爱他们感触尤深。刘秉江讲述了自己在“白专”、“红专”辩论中在学校遭受的冷落,只有董希文先生忽略这些,在艺术上对他有很多指导。提及“文革”中偶遇董希文去社会主义学院学习的尴尬场景、学校通过批学生来整老师等自己亲历的事件,刘秉江对董先生的遭遇十分愤慨。想到董先生重病期间还不忘提醒他以事业为重,更是十分感动。出于自身对董希文强烈的感情和对央美传统的理解,他认为应该恢复以艺术家名字命名工作室的制度,以便更好地继承先辈遗留的财富,构建央美的传统。李秀实同意刘秉江的这一看法,认为以董希文等老一辈美院艺术家的名字来命名油画工作室,有利于向社会、国际宣传中国艺术。与此同时,也应该创造更好的条件来帮助家属保存董希文先生的遗作。谈及上学期间在备受冷落的情况下,董先生对他的关心和爱护,李秀实尤为感激。邵伟尧主要补充了董希文当年在壁画创作方面做出的努力,但是由于各种限制最终没有成功,希望这个回忆能为进行相关研究的学者提供一些史料。

姚钟华、费正对老师董希文都有着深切的情感,他们也是当年被贴上美院“沙龙”标签的主要成员。姚钟华解释了当年“沙龙”的帽子为何会戴到他们头上的前因后果,列举了董希文及其工作室学生在各种运动中经历的种种磨难。姚钟华结合自己的学习经历,对董希文的艺术思想作了阐释。他认为董希文的艺术之路很宽,能够看到中西艺术的差异和相通之处,学习传统可以融入血液,面对西方主张学习“乔托以前,塞尚以后”。他早年的《开国大典》和晚年的一些作品是对艺术的不同探索,其艺术是古典主义与浪漫主义的结合,并通过《红军过草地》、《雅鲁藏布江之歌》等具体作品,阐发了自己对董希文艺术的见解。费正对董希文的艺术和教学也有深入的理解,董希文曾详细地向他们讲述过如何学习敦煌壁画中的线条、色彩等艺术手段,也告诫他们对待西方的现代艺术不能全部否定,应该加以辨析和学习。费正说道,从董希文那里,他开始看到塞尚、毕加索、莫迪良尼等人的作品,开启了他了解现代艺术的大门。还提及80年代在巴黎时,华裔艺术家朱德群对董希文先生的赞誉。二人对董先生在弥留之际的印象都极其深刻,姚钟华向董希文征求如何画黄河的意见,费正则记得老师在生命的最后阶段还坚持病愈后能够再画二十年的理想。

詹鸿昌并非董希文画室的学生,但是对董先生的艺术十分仰慕,经常和董希文画室的学生一起活动。他还记得自己在董先生家里看塞尚画册、听其讲毕加索艺术、董先生给他看画等往事,对恢复人名工作室制度的主张深表赞同。潘世勋的发言着重围绕董希文的艺术和教育两方面的成就展开,他结合自己的学习经历,解释了董希文“乔托以前,塞尚以后”的教学思想和“顺水推舟”的教学方法,也指出这种教学思想和方法在当时受到很多批判和阻碍。另外对董希文重走长征路、西藏写生、“文革”遭遇等也有叙述。

袁运生是董希文学生中十分杰出的一位,他对自己被打成“右”派的历史事实进行了说明,指出这次经历对他的重要意义和启示。袁运生认为董希文在艺术上的汲取能力之强、之广是中国20世纪之最,结合董希文继承传统的实例和自己在美国的亲身经历,他阐明了我们应该加强对中国文明理解和继承的观点,也介绍了自己力图从此入手,构建新的教学模式的努力。对袁运生被打成“右”派的历史,潘世勋作了补充说明。孙新川和袁野都主张继承和学习董先生的艺术精神,在艺术上多做探索。

孙景波在评议和总结中认为,董希文先生的艺术精神在其学生中间得到传承,此次展览给予了他应有的评价,他的生命和意志就像《红军过草地》中所反映的一样,是具有悲剧性的传奇人生。孙景波也对董一沙等家属为此次展览做出的努力表示衷心感谢。

下午四时许,由王璜生和宋晓霞主持的第三节研讨会在美术馆贵宾厅开始,本场参会者都是美术界的专业学者,主要从美术史研究角度探讨董希文艺术的学术意义。王璜生认为董希文在国立杭州艺和敦煌时期的作品都具有很强的现代性,现在学界对董希文艺术的研究,总体来说还有很多空白,期待弥补。随后在宋晓霞的主持下,嘉宾一一发言。

王伯勋、曹栋、李昌菊三位学者都是在博士期间接触到董希文的。《油画中国风》这本书是王伯勋在就读博士期间,跟随袁运生老师所做的个案研究的成果。书中梳理了董希文艺术中几件节点性的作品,介绍了董希文思想的形成、发展以及在学术史、教育史上的影响。曹栋论文的重点是研究《苗女赶场》画法,他认为董希文的画中充满了父性与精神的力量。在他看来,董希文受林风眠影响,极重构图。而象征主义在董希文的艺术中非常重要,并且没有因为关注现实而改变。此外,他认为在保留写实线条的基础上,董希文的艺术是挥洒的、书写性的。李昌菊认为董希文对待油画意识自觉、态度开放,作品历久弥新,对现今油画创作依然有很大影响。因此,董希文的作品不仅仅属于历史,还属于当下。

油画民族化是本场讨论的一个热点。宛少军指出,油画民族化的问题自1949年之后被大量讨论和实践。其中分歧主要集中在如何做到油画民族化,一种观点认为应当先把油画学到手,之后再解决民族化问题;另一种则认为要边学习、边融合、边创造。董希文属于后者。之后又谈到董希文之所以能够获得如此的成就,是因为他对油画民族化有深刻的认识。董希文认为表现中国人民的气质和思想感情是油画民族化的核心,其次还要注重中国人民的现实生活以及创造中国人民喜闻乐见的形式。他认为董希文在保持油画丰富性的基础上,将中国的创造方法融入到油画中,是一位不持偏见的、拥有开阔眼光的艺术家。韩劲松认为董希文可以研究的方面很多,他是从实践上很好地解决了油画民族化的一个案例。另外,他注意到董希文的《开国大典》和靳尚谊等人复制的同名作品,都经历过数次修改。同时他也看到,董必武的形象,在董希文原作和靳尚谊复制的作品中有很大差距。祁海平将董希文先生视为自己最崇拜的画家。他认为董希文提出油画民族化、油画中国风,是基于对本国文化的深深热爱和深刻理解。他对董希文油画兼收并蓄的情怀和充满诗意、追求写意的风格也给予肯定。

侯黎明主要介绍了在敦煌的经历对董希文造成的巨大影响。他从董希文临摹的三张《舍身饲虎》谈起,介绍了绘有《舍身饲虎》不同版本的两个敦煌洞窟——以凹凸画法为主的254窟和以线造型为主的428窟。而敦煌的《舍身饲虎》本身,也是在同类题材中结构最好的。侯黎明认为董希文在敦煌吸收了中国文化最精粹的部分,这为他打下了极好的艺术基础,也呼吁我们加强对敦煌文化的研究和继承。

刘新认为董希文是新中国油画中的节点性人物,他认为探讨董希文与西藏等少数民族、董希文与政治等都是很好的议题。他在研讨会主要提出两个问题,一是董希文和中国西部绘画界的问题,一是新中国的中国画改革问题。他认为本次展览理清了许多涉及董希文的关键问题。在最后,他提出了一个细节,就是董希文曾和袁运生谈起《苗女赶场》这张画时,讲过“依照我的本意,应该是按这个路子走下去的”。

赵昆讨论了董希文三次青藏之行中的人物写生问题。他介绍了三次进藏路线,梳理了董希文在其中的作品情况。董希文第一次去西藏走的是康藏公路筑路工队的路线,回来创作了《春到西藏》。第二次是1955年重走长征路,这次主要是为了创作《红军长征》这张作品,此外还有《藏女阿嬷》、《藏女阿管》等。第三次1961年走的是拉萨至亚东的路线,受美协邀请至藏。最后提出,我们可以从董希文的作品看到民族志和民族学的缩影。

最后,执行策展人郭红梅为大家介绍展览以及待出版的画册和文集情况,并向大家征集董希文专论文章。当天与会学者还有易英、吴洪亮、于洋、刘礼宾、王春辰、蔡萌等,由于时间关系未能发言。

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
