"The 'Fashion 100' Project Conclusion Exhibition & Series of Shows" Is About To Debut At The CAFA Art Museum

2026-03-19

The "Fashion 100" Project under the "Youth Partner Program" of the Chinese Artists Association, guided by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, hosted by the Chinese Artists Association, co-organized by the Fine Arts Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and assisted by the Fashion Design Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the China Fashion Association, is about to usher in the grand release of its core achievements. As a youth design talent development initiative, this marks a significant move by the Chinese Artists Association to integrate fashion design into its core talent development system for the first time. Adhering to the core tenet of "Academics First, Independent Thinking, Innovation Leadership", the project is committed to discovering and fostering a group of leading Chinese fashion design talents with aesthetic confidence, cultural soft power and academic distinctiveness.Since the official launch of the project in April 2025, "Fashion 100" has gathered young design talents from 59 key universities and renowned design institutions across the country. One hundred finalist designers, rigorously selected from 390 applications, have participated in intensive training and on-site research covering five major modules, including national narrative, cultural root-seeking, business logic, and cutting-edge technology. Subsequently, the jury panel composed of academic leaders from prestigious universities and senior industry experts conducted multiple rounds of rigorous reviews of the participants' works. Following a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, craftsmanship, styling, and stage effects, the outstanding works that have finally stood out are about to present a substantial response to the public. At 20:20 on March 22, 2026, as a key part of the official schedule of China Fashion Week, the presentation and show for the conclusion of the first "Fashion 100" under the "Youth Partner Program" of the Chinese Artists Association will officially kick off at the CAFA Art Museum. Breaking away from a single release model, this event adopts a deep integration of a dynamic opening gala show and a static exhibition, comprehensively and three-dimensionally presenting the exploration context of young designers. With the core of exploring the origin of creation and inheriting cultural genes, the participating works deeply root in the tradition of Chinese aesthetics, while connecting with international frontiers with an open vision, subtly interweaving Oriental implications and avant-garde expressions. What is particularly worth anticipating is the bold innovation in venue planning and audience experience for this exhibition. Leveraging the unique architectural space of the CAFA Art Museum, the show venue has been elaborately constructed into a multi-dimensional three-dimensional structure. In contrast to the traditional runway, the three-dimensional venue provides models with a deeper and more extended walking path, creating a fascinating cross-space dialogue between the dynamic fashion presentation and the surrounding static exhibits. Following this deeply layered path, the audience will be immersed in the artistic space with its staggered layout, experiencing every breakthrough in the cutting, fabrics, and craftsmanship of the garments. The future of Chinese fashion is being nurtured in the solid academic accumulation and fearless innovative practices of the younger generation. We sincerely invite faculty, students, and friends from all walks of life to visit the event, wandering through the extensive static exhibition areas and the interlaced three-dimensional runway space. On the evening of March 22, let's meet at the CAFA Art Museum, and witness the brilliant blooming of China's youngfashion design forces in the new era.Amber Work Title: Dust & LightHou RuoyiWork Title: Needles Across the SeaHuang Siyun Work Title: The Phygital Rhythm of TimeJiang Xiaoxi Work Title: Photosynthesis (The green symphony of light) Schedule of the series of shows March 28, 17:10 "New Era Young Art Talent Development Program – Fashion 100" Conclusion Achievement Report Exhibition & Outstanding Student Works Show, Session 1April 5, 16:00 "New Era Young Art Talent Development Program – Fashion 100" Conclusion Achievement Report Exhibition & Outstanding Student Works Show, Session 2April 11, 16:00 "New Era Young Art Talent Development Program – Fashion 100" Conclusion Achievement Report Exhibition & Outstanding Student Works Show, Session 3April 18, 16:00 "New Era Young Art Talent Development Program – Fashion 100" Conclusion Achievement Report Exhibition & Outstanding Student Works Show, Session 4April 19, 16:00 "New Era Young Art Talent Development Program – Fashion 100" Conclusion Achievement Report Exhibition & Outstanding Student Works Show, Session 5Xie MengdiWork Title: The Rising Wind and Water SeriesYu Shi、Guo Yong Work Title: Sense of PresenceWei Qinwen Work Title: Between the StrokesZhang Yan Work Title: Wilderness PastureZhang YidiWork Title: Traces of the Wind · Grotto SeriesZhao Jiarong Work Title: The void withinArtists AssociationYouth Art Talent ProgramIN -- The First Fashion 100 Project Conclusion Achievement Exhibition & Series of ShowsExhibition Dates: March 22, 2026 – April 19, 2026Exhibition Venue: CAFA Art Museum, 1st Floor Hall / 3rd Floor Gallery BGuided by: China Federation of Literary and Art CirclesHosted by: Chinese Artists AssociationOrganized by: Fine Arts and Art Center of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Beijing Institute of Fashion TechnologyCo-organized by: Fashion Design Art Committee of Chinese Artists Association, CAFA Art Museum, China Fashion AssociationSupported by: Chenfeng Group, Huaman·Miyin, Deshang GroupChief Consultants: Zhu Di, Fan Di'anGeneral Directors: Qu Jian, Huang Keying, Jia Ronglin, Lin Mao, Xu Yang, Yu YangChief Planners: Wang Ping, Zou You, Jin JunExhibition Coordination: Li Wei, Wan Lan, Han Wenchao, Gao Gao, Hai JunCuratorial Team: Wang Yixing, Xu BoCuratorial Assistants: Sun Ningning, Ma Hongjin, Li Zhiqian, Lyu ShanqiFashion Show Directors: Liu Fang, Lin JiuruFashion Show Coordination: Yan Xuyan, Zhang Yuhang, An Ning, Gu XiProject Coordination: Wang Jing, Liu Yuhan, Wang Feifei, Yang Lei, Wang Changyu, Wang Ruicheng, Dong ZhimiaoChief Editor / He Yisha Editor / Du Yinzhu

Zou You, Director of the Fashion Art Committee of the China Artists Association and Vice President of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, officiated as the host.Speech by Yu YangMember of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Central Academy of Fine ArtsYu Yang, Vice President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, stated that the CAFA Art Museum has welcomed a grand event featuring academic excellence, cultural depth and fashion vitality. Fashion is the aesthetic mirror of the times, and design is the vivid expression of culture. The "Fashion 100" project of the China Artists Association is visionary in conception, elaborate in planning and effective in organization. It is not only a pioneering initiative by the China Artists Association to integrate fashion and apparel design into its core talent development system, but also a national academic platform that leads the reform and innovation of fashion education, unites young design talents, and builds a full-chain support system for Chinese fashion design—from academic cultivation to achievement exhibition, and from cultural inheritance to innovative transformation. The successful implementation of this project will vigorously promote in-depth exchanges between fine arts creation and fashion design, enhance the academic quality and artistic height of Chinese design, and set an important example for building a contemporary fashion discourse system with Chinese characteristics, style and spirit, marking a milestone significance.Over its 108-year history, the Central Academy of Fine Arts has upheld its motto of “Seek Profound Precision, Strive for Vast Vision”, remained true to its original aspiration of art for the people and scholarship for the times, and consistently advanced the deep integration of fine art and design, tradition and contemporary practice, as well as the local and the international. The School of Design and the School of Urban Design at CAFA have long attached importance to the development of fashion and apparel disciplines. Rooted in fine arts and guided by contemporary design perspectives, they have cultivated expertise in sculptural aesthetics, material innovation, craft research, and cultural translation. We are delighted to see that young design talents from CAFA have also participated and presented their works in this event. As the co-organizer and venue of the exhibition and shows, the CAFA Art Museum is committed to using its artistic space as a carrier to build a diverse, multi-dimensional and three-dimensional presentation field that dynamically integrates runway shows and static exhibitions. This enables fashion cutting, fabric texture and craft innovation to engage in dialogue with the museum’s architectural space and artistic ambience, allowing oriental implication and avant-garde expression to interweave and coexist within the space. We hope this open and inclusive artistic platform will provide young designers with a stage to showcase their talent, exchange ideas and unleash creativity, so that art and fashion may ignite even more brilliant sparks here.Address by Jia Ronglin President of Beijing Institute of Fashion TechnologyJia Ronglin, President of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, stated that in the historical process of advancing Chinese-style modernization, fashion and apparel have evolved into an important carrier of the country’s cultural soft power and a direct expression of the national spirit and outlook. The inclusion of “Fashion 100” in the official schedule of China Fashion Week is not only an in-depth practice of implementing the General Secretary’s “important expositions on literary and artistic work”, but also a strategic vision for forging a new force and building a high-level talent matrix for China’s fashion industry. As the host university, he shared three thoughts from the perspective of industry-university-research integration: First, uphold cultural roots and consolidate the innovative foundation of “Created in China”; Second, deepen industrial integration and activate the intellectual productivity of the fashion industry; Third, keep in mind the country’s major priorities and demonstrate the responsibility of youth in serving national strategies. He hoped that everyone would keep in mind the great trust of the times, stitch together history and the future with threads and needles, depict glory and dreams with colors, and create more brilliant chapters worthy of the times.Xiao XiangrongMember of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Dance AcademyXiao Xiangrong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Dance Academy, noted that over the past year, he had accompanied young artists throughout their growth from spring to winter, and was delighted to witness the presentation of their works in the spring of 2026. A director with a dance background, Dean Xiao began teaching at the fashion school because both fashion design and dance take the body as their medium. He encouraged designers to observe the world with their own eyes, break free from stereotypical thinking, and conduct diverse perspectives against the backdrop of the times. In response to the designers’ confusion over style, narrative, materials and color, Dean Xiao shared Martha Graham’s quote, “The body never lies,” to encourage them, pointing out that works never lie either. Trendiness does not equal classics. Young designers should uphold sincerity, demand excellence in details, and avoid perfunctoriness and plagiarism, so that their works are imbued with a genuine perception of the world. May they stay true to themselves, chase the wind and the moon, and find their own artistic mountain of spring.Address by Jiang XiaoxiTrainee RepresentativeJiang Xiaoxi, trainee representative and teacher at the School of Fashion Art, Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, noted that the learning experience of "Fashion 100" was both a spiritual journey and a return to her original aspiration. In an era of image overload and fast-changing trends, she rethought the definition of fashion: it is not merely the renewal of forms, but an externalization of cultural stance and perception of the times. Through study and exchange, the trainees expanded the boundaries of art, translated Eastern philosophy into contemporary visual language, and re-examined the relationships between clothing and the human body, art and utility in interdisciplinary collisions, achieving both professional refinement and conceptual reshaping. In their personal creations, they integrated the spirit of guardianship and independence with gentle yet firm expressions, realizing that the vitality of fashion stems from its cultural roots. In the future, they will return to their posts with their achievements, pass on the torch of creation, contribute wisdom to Chinese fashion, and tell compelling stories of China!Address by Qu JianSecretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Resident Vice Chairman of the China Artists AssociationQu Jian, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Resident Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association, stated that apparel and fashion are treasures of Chinese civilization. The “Fashion 100” program is a concrete practice of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and the China Artists Association in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, and a key component of the Youth Partnership Program in the field of fashion design. This achievements exhibition and runway show is a concentrated presentation of the full-cycle cultivation of the “Fashion 100” program, as well as a comprehensive review of the creative capabilities and growth journeys of 100 young designers. Making a splendid appearance as an official event of China Fashion Week, today’s showcase has allowed everyone to witness the growth and progress of young designers, as well as the in-depth cultural heritage of Chinese local fashion and its creative transformation and innovative development in the new era.In the future, the continuous implementation of the “Fashion 100” program will help form a long-term talent incubation mechanism and foster a sound environment for talent gathering, innovation and entrepreneurship. Qu expressed his hope that young designers participating in “Fashion 100” will take this event as a new starting point, keep delving deep and striving for excellence, and repay the call of the times with more high-quality works.Zou You,Director of the Fashion Art Committee of the China Artists Association and Vice President of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technologyofficiated as the hostChina Artists Association "Youth Partner Program" – Inaugural "Fashion 100" Concluding Achievements Exhibition & Fashion Show Launch CeremonyGroup photo of the guestsCertificates of "Fashion 100" were presented to the representatives of outstanding trainees.List of trainees: An Bo, Jiang Xiaoxi, Zhang Yan, Yu Shi, Guo Yong, Su Xing, Yu QiuyuCertificates of "Fashion 100" were presented to the representatives of outstanding trainees.List of trainees: Yu Ying, Zhang Miao, Zhao Jiarong, Yu Hailing, Zhang Yidi, Lyu Shanqi, Wang YixingCertificates of "Fashion 100" were presented to the representatives of outstanding trainees.List of trainees: Li Qianqian, Wei Qinwen, Yu Yimeng, Xie Mengdi, Huang Siyun, Hou Ruoyi, Fu ShaoxiongThe "Fashion 100" program is an important initiative of the China Artists Association, marking the first time that fashion design has been integrated into its core talent development system. One hundred outstanding young talents have been carefully selected from 59 key art academies across China, with the expectation that they will embrace the responsibility of “bearing in mind the country’s most fundamental interests”. They are expected not only to become leading talents in China’s fashion innovation design, shouldering the important missions of the era and the expectations of the nation, but also to grow into interdisciplinary innovative talents capable of driving industrial upgrading, transformation and practical implementation. Furthermore, they are expected to make fashion and apparel a visual representation of the national spirit and an important carrier of the country’s cultural soft power. Under the theme “IN”, the exhibition is presented in two forms: static fashion displays indoors and five dynamic runway shows. It is divided into sections including National Narrative, Cultural Root-Seeking, Commercial Logic, and Cutting-Edge Technology.╱On the promotional poster are the following four slogans:No fashion, no design.Design for the people.Clothing carries the spirit; beauty serves humanity.Gaze into the past, envision the future. This exhibition also inspires a series of reflections:Why fashion? Why haute couture? Why clothing? Why the youth?╱The essence of fashion lies in time, manifested externally as style. It is an expression of the visage of time, presented visually through clothing. While fashion strongly emphasizes timeliness, cutting-edge spirit, innovation and uniqueness, it cannot be truly called “fashion” if it fails to connect with a profound past and point toward an infinite future. Instead, it is merely vogue — a superficial, fleeting appearance of time. Fashion, through the unique “present”, breaks through the singular narrative of the immediate space and time, achieving timelessness across broad domains and long histories. Therefore, although fashion must be constantly new, it must also be enduringly eternal. And fashion wear refers to clothing imbued with the essence of fashion. As stated on the exhibition poster, “Clothing carries the spirit; beauty serves humanity”. Fashion wear is the expression of the most cherished and ideal state of dress—chosen by each of us every day, and by every nation throughout every period of history. When we stand before the mirror after our morning shower to choose our clothing, we are essentially reflecting:“In what state, emotion, and image do I wish to present myself today? How do I hope to be perceived by others?”At this moment, clothing becomes one’s personal fashion—the attire of the present day. When a nation exhibits a certain sartorial trend over a period of time, it is essentially proclaiming to the world: the life form, lifestyle, and spiritual state of its people at this very moment. At this point, clothing becomes the fashion of the collective, the nation, and society—the ethos of the times.Fashion is more than just clothing; it is a face and a mirror that reflects the soul of the individual, the state of society, the spirit of a nation, and the power of culture. As seen in the works of this exhibition and its inaugural runway show, each piece appears highly fashionable and contemporary, yet is rich with Chineseness, national identity, traces of regional culture, the aesthetic of intangible cultural heritage, memories of a long history, and a strong sense of identity. These fashion designs and the performers’ poise embody fashion innovation, youthful vitality, national responsibility, cultural depth, academic excellence, artistic leadership, and promising industrial innovation. With the opening of the China Artists Association "Youth Art Talent Program – Fashion 100" exhibition and the subsequent runway shows, we look forward to a promising and unprecedented future for the innovation and industrial development of China’s fashion industry.  Schedule of Fashion Shows  Fashion Show 1March 28 | 17:10Fashion Show 2April 5 | 16:00Fashion Show 3April 11 | 16:00Fashion Show 4April 18 | 16:00Fashion Show 5April 19 | 16:00主编 / 何一沙责编 / 杜隐珠
